comcast internet cap begins today [make some $ inside, free idea]

Now would be the time to quickly develop a "bandwidth counting/limiting" software & throw it up in advertisements to anyone ending in comcast.net. Yes i realize there is software out there already capable of fulfilling this need (DUMETER for example) but your surfers don't know that.

A huge # of Americans use Comcast & they all recieved an email in the past 2 weeks about the new limits, so its fresh in their minds right now. Instructions & tips: Develop bandwidth counting/limiting software here is a quick idea of what you'll need it to do 1) count a users bandwidth usage (daily, weekly, monthly) 2) offer the user a "daily" cap i.e. 8gigs per day (will keep them under 250gigs) 3) offer a weekly cap 4) offer a media filter (block all flash video, all mp3 downloads) make all of these features your key selling point on the landing page Filter traffic by hostname (comcast.net) to a nice professional landing page Charge $59.95 a pop (non-recurring) Make sure to mention they can lose their service for up to a year if they go over 250 gig's downloaded & just how easy it is to go over that limit ![]() Enjoy the idea, I don't have the time for it right now!

Nice idea. I'd hope not many know how little bandwidth they really burn. Unless they are torrent lovers they probably don't get anywhere close to 250 GB a month. Nothing wrong with making money from the suckers though.
