I want to know which content sellers have the best digital quality (format, bitrate, resolution) available. 5000+ kbps and de-interlaced are the base requirements.

Also, DVD Quality isn't enough as those videos don't look good enough on LCD PC monitors even if re-encoded. As a matter of fact if I put a DVD on and watch it, it looks quite awful on my LCD monitor. So I need content that is meant for digital distribution.

if mpeg2 i might agree especially if its stuff thats larger than 720x576

but 3000 kbps WMV is already wonderful for large screens unless you sit 1 meter away from an 80 inch screen

This isn't a thread just telling what I'm looking for however, so feel free to discuss about or compare content sellers and their video quality too. So far only content sellers have replied but hey, this is GFY, no business talk unless it benefits yourself.

3000 kbps WMV might just be wonderful if it doesn't have too high resolution and had great quality source material but I'm looking for a little higher resolution stuff and that needs a higher kbps.

To stream and to offer as a downloadable form.. These days the highest quality option should be way above what the current paysite standard of 1 - 2 mbps is if you're going to want to convert those tube users when they finally want something better.

Well, a thread subject like this one is an open invitation for content providers to post and say "hey, i can provide the highest digital quality videos!" and that includes ME!

We usually provide the raw MPEG files. 5000kbps is not a problem.

I hear you when you talk about beating tube sites through offering even higher quality videos than the already "average" high quality, but then how do you not compromise downloading speeds for your customers? I do not know your business model but i would be glad if you or someone could enlighten me on how high-bandwidth porn sites are working these days.

but fyi - raw mpeg at 5000 kbps is barely DVD quality. raw mpeg in HDV is 25,000 kbps - which is too much for anything else than editing and then encoding to something that could be handled

streaming above 2 mbit makes no sense because the enduser usually has not enough bandwidth or some node in between. i tested that for months, even with different CDNs

Yea raw mpeg at 5000 kbps is worse than DVD quality, which as far as I know is 8000 kbps mpeg 2 but for example 5000 kbps WMV, VP6 or h.264 encoded from a great source should be great and better than DVD quality. I've never produced content myself so I don't know as much as you but I do know the basics and enough for me to decide what kind of content would serve me best.

Streaming at for example 6 mbps is fine for the 8+ mbps adsl users and there's a lot of them even though they aren't even nearly a majority. Nevertheless such files are mainly for download and having the ability to stream them will only mean more in the future.

Also I guess if you have that kind of material you can also have a lot better converting free samples as the "download highest quality sample" option beside the more standard kbps streaming sample.

Besides, I want high quality videos also for the reason that my standard kbps versions would look better as well.

that's why i said "5000 kbps of what?"

if you really want to stream 6 mbps i can only wish you good luck, even with Level 3 CDN or Highwinds CDN i had a rate of 50% failure at 3 mbps - even with people sitting on a 20 mbps connection. because you can't control what happens between the delivery server and the peoples homes. one slow node screws up the whole system

Actually with my 8 mbps connection I can download or http pseudo-stream at a steady speed of about 6400 kbps from my U.S softlayer servers, even though I'm from Finland. With high quality server bandwidth it shouldn't be a problem. Any hiccups can be offset by making the user download the video a little faster than necessary.

Exactly! and what i meant was i can deliver raw mpeg at 25000kbps and wmv at 4000 - 6000 kbps - so 5000kbps is not a problem, just as good as any other solid content provider like yourself. What i wanted to bring up to the conversation is exactly what you stated MaDalton - what is the end user gonna do when they have to sit and wait for monster files to download / stream? i don´t think most would be able to handle them.

That is why i also wanted to hear from HD-only paysite owners or above and see how they handle it. High bandwidth users only? That sounds like leaving a lot of people out.
