There's a really good pizza place (owned by an Italian family that moved the business from NY) near where I live that has the best sauce. I'm convinced that the sauce is the secret to why their pizzas are so much better than any other place.

Any do-it-yourselfers here know a good pizza sauce recipe?

Depends on the style you like, type you like, etc. Plus do you tend to like tangy, sweet, or savory?

I've heard you can take spaghetti sauce and add sugar to use it for pizza. Never tried it though.

You can and adding sugar is often done by people who want to cut any acidic taste of the tomato. Not sure if it is really needed, specially on jared sauces which often have some sugar anyways.

I would first try just taking some spaghetti sauce from a jar and reduce it first on the stove to thicken it a bit. That will also condense the flavors. *if your starting with jared sauce.

Somehow I know I am misspelling the jar word. Oh well.

I just make mine semi home made. Buy Boboli pizza shells, buy sauce or make your own, shredded mozzarella and your toppings. Throw it all together and it's yummy. Way better than frozen.
