"Offshore drilling is very important" -McCain

I urge everyone to go do their own research on the validity of that statement.

moeloubani 09-26-2008 07:27 PM

the day right after 9/11 was probably as safe as it gets for americans...everything was on high alert

mccain just said that he thinks americans are safer now, is he smoking rocks?

Best Comment of the debate...

Being a guy that traveled a lot around the world... "America as lost is respect with the rest of the planet."

You guys need a president that can get it back :thumbsup

Sadly, the type that are that blind still somehow manage to find their way to the polling station.

pocketkangaroo 09-26-2008 07:32 PM

None of this matters though. There are more JaneBs in this world who vote based on a bracelet gimmick than actual policies.

A lot of Americans will say 'who cares' but as an American that lives abroad..he is so right. It is like the western world is holding their breath and crossing their fingers that Obama will get in just so that they can lay off for a few months.

You guys notice how most of the time Obama is saying what "he" will do when he's asked a question. McCain on the other hand doesn't ever say what "he will" do but rather talks about Obama.

IMO Obama clearly controlled this debate IMO.

He knew the guys name, he just got his words mixed up regarding who he got the bracelet from. Obviously he didn't get it from the dead Sgt. It was a natural mistake... you going to comment on how nervous McCain sounded addressing questions about the economy?

In regards to veterans McCain said "I love them and I'll take care of them."

I must admit its so evil because it works.

I'm glad the emo garbage works on women so I can still get laid, but when it comes to politics it scares me.

Jesus. Let me guess your pick up line.

People are going to see through a lot of both of their statements. I felt Obama didn't get to the point on some questions, and on the Russia issue I almost felt uneasy.
But McCain lost me on the "We won't talk to anyone" theory which he did NOT rebut later on.

seeric 09-26-2008 07:45 PM

im a veteran and i personally did not appreciate the sappy troop play at the end. it offended me actually as a veteran. once you serve in the military see how loved you feel when youre out there in the middle of no where fighting for something that you shouldn't be for reasons you shouldn't be.

Well, my wife and I are independents and I it amazes the hell out of me that anyone could be undecided between Obama and McCain. I mean, honestly, how could anyone even consider voting for McCain? I used to respect the old codger, but the moment he started toeing Bush's line, he lost my love. I'm a veteran, but none of that patriotic nonsense works on me - and that's all McCain has.

Shaze 09-26-2008 07:46 PM

after watching the debate you can clearly see that Mcain will be another four more years of Bush type policies. you can see he wasn't very interested in talking about economics of our country (or anything else for that matter), but when Iraq and the war was brought up he certainly became interested and started blabbing his mouth. this is exactly what got our economy and the downfall of the US into where we are right now with Bush. Bush ignored everything else going on in the US while his focus was on the war.

Obama's answers at least showed he was looking at running the country while taking into account how his policies would effect the nation as a whole which included the economy, international policies, national security, etc...., and not just focused and that bullshit war.

Obama for President!!!!!!!

American's like "family" values. If he had no one come up, it would feel too much like the man show and women hate that.

They both HAVE to do that. In fact if one of them had a couple kids come up too, it would have been a potential swaying point for a lot of Catholics.

Probably a JUDAS reflex....

Fully agreed. McCain twisted and weaseled his way through everything - putting Obama down at every inopportunity...rather than adequately state what 'he' would do.

McCain is an out-of-touch old turd. I don't trust the man as far as I can throw him.

They both did good, Obama won, pretty much without question. Just because McCain had the upper had in a couple of subjects doesn't mean much when he drops the ball on the economy, iraq and afgan.

What he should have said about Russia was, it isn't our problem. But he did say "if they meat the Nato requirements" which they can't, so they won't get backing of the U.S.

Trust me, I know about American politics and why it is done. I just think it is lame and stuck in 1950's where you have to show you are a family, etc. Like what 'dame' is on your arm means anything about what you know about world affairs and I include Hillary in that when it was Bill doing this dance.

Anybody that votes for somebody at all based on who comes on the stage to hug them afterwards is a twit.

yeah, we've done such a great job so far.... i think 75% of our troops are on some type of anti anxiety or anti depression meds...

our troops are only good to this country when they are fighting... once they come back, they are forgotten..

i am sick and tired of these politicians going to safe zones in iraq or afghanistan with a ton of security and then act like they are some heroes for going there...

fuck off.... you want to impress me, go into the war zone for 24 hours and see what the troops see day in and day out and then come back and tell me we need to stay in iraq for another 5 years...
