    Education ... Does it matter ????

    does it matter for the president of the most powerful nation i n the world.

    Obama:
    Occidental College - Two years.
    Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
    Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

    Biden:
    University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
    Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

    McCain:
    United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 of 899

    Palin:
    Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
    North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
    University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
    Matanuska-Sus itna College - 1 semester
    University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

                      Money and family connections got him in sure...but he still graduated.

                      Education and intelligence are two different things.....lots of idiots with degrees out there and alot of smart people without them.
                      Alot of bankrupt MBA's and alot of college dropouts who became millionares.

                      Educated does not always mean smart....so in the comparison you're trying to make here, no, education doesn't matter.


                      To prove my point, let's say that Obama went to state college and Palin had the cum laude degree from harvard....yet both said and did the exact same things today that they're already saying and doing....would their education pedigree change your opinion of either of them?

                                          that's true, but number of college dropout millionaires is very very little as compared to number of educated millionaires.

                                          I agree that there is no direct relation between education and intelligence, but overall, IMHO, education does matter. (not talking about this specific situation)

                                              No, Obama is one of the most intelligent people to ever run for President. It's actually one of the things that hurts him a bit in the polls, because he seems aloof.

                                              It's hard sometimes to "dumb things down" so that average people can understand them, and alot of average people feel insulted if you speak in a way they can't understand....they feel like you're showing off or purposely trying to make them feel inferior.

                                              Unfortunately raw intelligence and people skills are usually mutually exclusive, which is how guys like Dubya get elected President and guys like Al Gore get made fun of.

                                                  Yes if you're speaking in the aggregate, then college educated people, as a whole, are far more intelligent than non college educated people.

                                                  Whether or not someone went to a state college as opposed to an Ivy League institution is more a matter of economics than anything else....with the rare exceptions of the poor scholarship guys, like Barack Obama.

                                                      It is obvious that Obama did NOT have the family connections that McCain did, albeit making his educational success a bit more "legit".

                                                      Furthermore, a professor from Harvard sung his praises, not to mention that he was the first black guy (even though he's fucking half white and was raised by his white, Christian grandparents from Kansas, though nobody seems to give a shite about this) to be president of the Harvard Law Review.

                                                      However, McCain did spend 5 years as a POV...That's pretty intense.

                                                      Also, my undergraduate university was public, and SO competitive...Nobody gives a crap about you or if you flunk. Furthermore, I have my MBA from an American private school...To maintain their rankings, they will NOT allow people to flunk, trust me. They'll do whatever it takes (same with Harvard, Princeton, Yale undergrad).

                                                          I maintain that you want your president to be smart. And college educted people are smarter on average. A lot smarter.

                                                                  Has the majority of the American populaion always been for the most part inorant???? Was my vision of a nation of smart people all in my imagination, or have we recently fell to this lower ration of brains to braun??

                                                                  I mean seriously... I honestly never thought for a second that so many dumb people lived within our borders. I always assumed that the average American was on or above high school level ..... at least

                                                                  but when I see crowds of people cheering on John Mccain and Sarah palin.....with the state of the world and nation as it is.... and a solid alternative to destruction of our country.... I hought the choice would be obvious
