My brother never votes and says much the same thing. If everyone who didn't vote because they don't like either candidate actually voted for a 3rd party candidate that party would get enough votes to start getting federal matching funds for future elections and we could be on our way to getting a legit 3rd part that could potentially offer an actual alternative.

I will most likely be voting for Bob Barr. I'm in a state that will be going to Obama without much question so because of the outdated badly needing to be removed electoral college system my vote won't really matter. If I vote for Obama he still wins the state if I vote McCain he still loses so I will vote for Barr in hopes that he can somehow muster up 5% of the popular vote. He is polling at around 1% so it is a long shot, but at least my vote will count.

I do like Palin - quite a bit actually - but much like Obama - she is not ready for the job. 5 - 10 years, perhaps. Yes, and on that note, lets look at the fact that Obama is a heavy smoker and can't quit. That is a direct risk to his health. And Biden has had multiple aneurysms - meaning, potentially, Obama could get cancer and Biden have an aneurysm - then Pelosi takes over.

I agree with you that both sides have issues. On the health front, regardless of who you like or don't like or if you hate the both, you have to admit that the odds are McCain would be the one that would have health problems. Sure Obama could get cancer or have a sudden heart attack, anything could happen, but when you make a bet you pick the odds that best suit you and if you had to bet money between obama and McCain on who would have serious health problems first would you not pick the guy that is 72 and has already had cancer 4 times?

I like the fact that she has stood up to her own party. While she, like every other Politician has flopped on some issues - for the purposes of political expediency, has for the most part proven to be on the side of the people and more so than any other candidate in this race stood up for the people.

Ever since "Politician" bacame a profession in this country, everythign has gone to shit. Why is it, that LAWYERS are the butt of more jokes about their integrity and character - but totally revered as politicians?

If anyone in the 2008 presidential race is a 'Washington outsider' it's Palin. Personally, I think that's more of what the U.S. needs in Washington. I would have thought the same about Obama - until it was clear that he is just as tied to PAC's, lobbyists and special interest groups as every other prominent 'lifer' in the Congress.

Yes - that's probably true. But she will get her opportunity grow and learn. The only advantage she does have right now - is that she was an executive. She actually had to be held accountable for stuff. None of the other 3 have any experience at all in that arena.
