Report: McCain Aides Complain That Palin Is "Clueless" Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as "disastrous." One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, "What are we going to do?" The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is "clueless." On Friday, conservative columnist Kathleen Parker said that after seeing Palin in interviews, she thinks the vice presidential nominee should drop out. |

Kathleen Parker: After Interviews, Palin Should Bow Out
Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, admitting that until recently she was a vocal supporter of Sarah Palin, now says the vice presidential nominee should bow out: Some of the passionately feminist critics of Palin who attacked her personally deserved some of the backlash they received. But circumstances have changed since Palin was introduced as just a hockey mom with lipstick -- what a difference a financial crisis makes -- and a more complicated picture has emerged. As we've seen and heard more from John McCain's running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn't know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion. Parker says her turnaround came from watching Palin in interview. Like other critics, she wasn't impressed: Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League. No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted. Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there's not much content there. It's so bad, Parker says, that Palin should quit the race: Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first. |

It's amazing that McCain can go from saying that he doesn't understand economic issues to acting like he is going to help hammer this thing out. Now he says in a statement about what he is doing in the negotiations: "How much did I have to do with that? I'll let you and others be the judge." Reports coming out of the White House had McCain just sitting there saying nothing. IMO his original plan was to knock down the agreement to stretch this out so that he could skip the debate (and hopefully not have to make it up at all). But then he learned of the plan to just put Obama on TV alone, taking questions from the audiance. So now he must show up. This guy is a total joke. |

Democrat on MSNBC just said that McCain's total speaking time during the meetings wasn't even 1 minute.
Now let's see what his involvement claims are during the debate tonight. |

I think your 99% correct. The only part I think you are missing out on, is the possibility of McCain hoping to replace the VP debate with the one he would have skipped out on.
