How Do I Setup mod_rewrite?

Looking to setup mod_rewrite on my apache server...can anyone help me out?

It has to be compiled into the apache binary, either as a module or statically. The documentation that comes with apache explains how to do this...

if you're compiling apache from source,
add --enable-module=rewrite or (I think) --enable-shared=rewrite to the configure command.
If you're using a pre-built apache binary (like from a linux distribution or something similar) it's most likely already there, or, there's a .deb or .rpm or something to add it.
More info on your setup would probably get you a better answer.
