Here is what I did. I've seen this coming for a while and have even posted about it.
* I moved to Thailand. My overhead here is so low it's funny. I can live on close to nothing.
* I have my money spread out in various NON-US banks and are held in several different currencies.
* I have enough cash at hand to cover me for 2+ years should the bottom fall out and I lose all sources of income.
* I have zero debt!
* I have access to firearms (and other military arsenal) here and in the USA should they ever be needed.
* My girlfriend has a lot of farm land where her family lives off the land. If all else fails I can have food and shelter there. I'll have to give up my high-speed internet but at least I will be able to eat well and have a nice roof over my head. :-)
My only regret is not having a stockpile of gold. :-(
