The article states that searches for porn are down because people spend so much time on Social networking sites they don't have time for porn anymore. But the real reason people aren't searching for porn as much is because they know exactly where to find it

Social networking is the new dating (and there has been a big article about it few months ago as well).

Porn is just slowly dying...

YES! EXCELLENT! We blamed galleries, then P2P, then tubes, and now (and this is SO obvious) it's FACEBOOK to blame.

Not the fact that we have deliberately FUCKED our customers with dialers, cross sells, shit sites etc for years.

No, it's NOT OUT FAULT! It's FACEBOOK.

Fucking idiots.

Maybe if we offered a good product at a fair price and didn't try to dry assfuck our customers we wouldn't be in this situation.

Thoughts?

Smaller adult industry also means less competition eventually, so many of us may benefit from the slowdown in searches for porn-related content.

Get out of the business, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

This year, I know at least two major competitors that have disappeared in my niche. I have no idea why, but I'm not going to complain!

This is flawed in many ways.

1. Many surfers have either bookmarked or memorized the URLs to their favorite sites that they like to go to over the years.

2. Or maybe we are selling more porn? And surfers are going directly to their favorite site(s) they buy subscriptions to.

3. It's not like people have to use search engines to find porn, especially in present times. You can easily jump through 20 different porn sites and between multiple niches in a short amount of time, without visiting a search engine.

"Internet searches give an up-to-date view of society is changing" - That's a dramatically inaccurate statement.

We can see that measuring an industry based on 'search' statistics is not an accurate indicator of the state of any industry, especially online adult.

CANBERRA - Social networking sites are the hottest attraction on the Internet, dethroning pornography and highlighting a major change in how people communicate, according to a web guru.

Hottest indeed!

I think you are an idiot and wrong. All we need to do is send more traffic.

That was a joke and you're spot on. The problem with this business, all porn, is it treated customers like sheep and fools. I was telling people years ago that unless they changed what is happening would happen.

We spend a fortune on landing a guy on a site and then dish him up with crap. Eventually he wises up and learns to not pay. Tubes did not steal customers, the customer went to them of his own free will. Even the notion that surfers can be stolen is thinking of the like sheep.
