It's not so odd, considering that the Vikings (Nordic people) settled in Russia and penetrated deep into the continent and helped establish a kingdom called Kievan Rus, centered in what is now the modern Ukraine in the early Middle Ages.

and then bordering on Ukraine to the south is another hotbed for beauty..... Romania, and although brunettes seem to be most common there are many lighter hair colored genetics there as well (nordic mixed with roman blood?)

In the office I used to work in, there was this blonde Ukranian chick who went back for a visit on her vacation.

there was a network picture dump for everyone to post vacation pics. When she got back from the Ukraine, we all went through her stash of pics. There was a shot of her sitting on the couch with her 3 sisters. Hot, hot and hot. They all looked like supermodels.

Various shots around her village on the streets had so many superfine women walking around --- it really looked like heaven on earth. The women above 30 years old didn't look so good.
