And no, hosting with the script owners would not be a valid option as that really ties you to a company way to strongly. Bad enough when scripts phone home, could not imagine having to actually keep it at home.

Actually $30K may well be much cheaper than other alternatives, if you consider the pricing range you fall under (re NATS) and paying that monthly. Naturally few will be interested in shelling this up-front, only the bigger boys will value that more than paying monthly.

30K is a good price for a CMS. If you are a mid size to large program just cost of a developer is 2 - 3 times of that plus what the guaranty the developer you hire will do the work.

Depends on what you want to do. I have seen comapnies spend 1M+ on CMS. Its all based on what you need the CMS to do. We do sell CMS for VOD and its 30K+
