Ya we heard that line when people were saying Ron Paul would do great. And you know me I am a Ron Paul supporter. Most polls are of small groups of past voters.

Don't you usually post unsourced and unsupported allegations intending to impugn any source which provides evidence contrary to your positions?

In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples.

Among the findings:

• Before the convention, Republicans by 47%-39% were less enthusiastic than usual about voting. Now, they are more enthusiastic by 60%-24%, a sweeping change that narrows a key Democratic advantage. Democrats report being more enthusiastic by 67%-19%.

• Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a national unknown before McCain chose her for the ticket 10 days ago, draws a strong reaction from voters on both sides. Now, 29% say she makes them more likely to vote for McCain, 21% less likely.

Obama's choice of Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as running mate made 14% more likely to vote for the Democrat, 7% less likely.

• McCain's acceptance speech Thursday received lower ratings than the one Obama gave a week earlier: 15% called McCain's speech "excellent" compared with 35% for Obama.

That was a very painful lesson on polling for me also.

The polling turned out to be almost 100% accurate... unfortunately.

There you go. There is no source and no support for the allegation above. Are you really as stupid as you act on GFY?

There is a very damn good reason they are keeping a ball gag on the hockey mom.
I would watch those numbers a bit once she has to appear in front of the press without everyone sticking to a script.

History shows new votes dont come out. We shall see if history is proven wrong, sometimes it is.

How about here where you make a similar unsourced and unsupported allegation regarding a Rasmussen poll that displeases you?

I guess they didn't poll the GFY talking heads. Around here we have great brains who have all but decreed that Obama is going to win this election hands down.

If only Simonsynster, NotOldSchool, Pussyserver and Tony404 could reach a larger audience! Think of the "change" they could bring!

It's almost like this place isn't representative of the voting public or something.

Did you read this part -

"However, in an analysis of the impact of political conventions since 1960, Sabato concluded that post-convention polls signal the election's outcome only about half the time. "You could flip a coin and be about as predictive," he says. "It is really surprising how quickly convention memories fade.""

What the Democrats should really focus on more is Sarah Palin. What else can you dig up or make up about the nice looking hockey mom? Republican party top brass must be laughing their asses off as the nation continues to talk about Sarah palin and not Obama.

I swear you idiots just want to give this election away. Stop helping, because you aren't.

It is for this very reason that the InTrade numbers can not be sourced as indicative of the voting public. It is more a gauge of what people want the "internets".

I will say that taking the opposite of what tony404 predicts has been an almost 100% winner every time. This year will be no different.

Review the posts above this post and tell me if any of this sounds familiar.

"New voters" "Polls are wrong" "people with cell phones only are not polled" "They do not poll new registrations"

The polling at this stage is historically 50/50 predictive. Yet the race has pretty much been 50/50 all along. So it's a complete coin-toss still.

If the polls indicate a trajectory that continues, obviously the race will be over. If it's a blip resulting from the RNC and Palin celebrity that wanes, who knows.

Some expect Obama to be so good in the debates. I have doubts. Who knows what the next 2 months will bring.
