Well since Biden has been wrong on almost every major foreign decision in the last 35 years I don't think he gives too many people warm fuzzies with his vast experience !

Yea, name one Foreign Policy decision Bush, or any other President has been correct on during the same time.

Arming and training the Taliban isn't even #1 on the dumb decision list...

On a serious note:

Obama's foreign policy experience includes graduating from Columbia University with a degree in political science with an emphasis on international relations. In the U.S. Senate Obama is unique among Senators in that he serves on three of the four Senate Committees dealing with foreign policy issues including the Foreign Relations; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Veterans' Affairs committees and is the Chair of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Relations which is responsible fore U.S. relations with European countries, the European Union, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (i.e., NATO). When comparing Obama's foreign policy experience with other candidates for President you have Democrat Joseph Biden who is Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Democrat Hillary Clinton who is a member of the Armed Services Committee and John McCain who is the Ranking Member of the Armed Services Committee yet there is no Senator except for Barack Obama who serves on three of the four committees that deal with foreign policy.

He has been a senator for 3 years and has been running for president full time for half of that. Fair is fair. If you are going to call out Palin it is a complete joke to say that he has any solid international experience.

I am no big John McCain supporter but all of this hype about Obama is laughable.

Fox News is an oxymoron.

As for foreign policy experience because Alaska is close to Russia, the first person to say that was Cindy McCain I believe. (I'm 100% sure she said it, I saw the clip. I'm 95% sure she said it first)

Biden vs Palin.

Tough choice but think Palin pips Biden just because she isn't a total fuck up and looks nice. Btw why do the media give Biden a free ride... there is so so so much they could smash him with.

Technically she does have foreign policy and relations experience.

Gov. Palin negotiated fishing and other border sensitive issues directly with the Russians. She possesses direct knowledge about the sizeable U.S. Air Force and Navy presence and the Alaskan National Guard in her state which patrols and shadows Russian air and naval forces along the Alaskan border and the polar ice cap. This includes nuclear armed patrols. The men and women in the U.S. military interact with the Governor. Alaskans also trades directly with Russians and Canadians.

Seems to me that Bob Beckel the Hard-Leftist that he is would be arguing this point but he has yet to even challenge anyone on the issue.

those are federal issues... not state issues... and about international and US Territorial Waters... not Alaska State waters

again... federal issues... not state issues. When Russian bombers test US airspace/defenses, radar etc... no one is asking the governor what to do and no one is asking the governor if they should scramble some fighter planes to escort them back into international airspace.

when i was about 16, i watched a bunch of F-14's scramble out of King Salmon Air Force Base to intercept some Russian planes... one of the coolest things i ever saw in my life.

All Federal issues. the governor has no role or say in national security issues or military response or military intelligence.

I've seen plenty of air shows... doesn't make me a fighter pilot or stunt pilot or more qualified to comment on piloting a fighter jet.

I seriously think Palin is a big joke the republicans are pulling. They are just trying to prove a point that they can get anyone elected. This chick is unreal in her total lack of anything to run this country.

Either im wrong, your wrong or our own Federal Goverments description of key economic states that border other nations is wrong. And also wrong would be the responsibilities and duties of David A. Paterson, Rick Perry and Sarah Palin.

David A. Paterson, Rick Perry and Sarah Palin all three are Governors of key economic states that border other nations, all three deal in foreign policy and relations with the oversight of the the Federal Goverment.

Further more you can read the Governors Foreign Policy Analysis that oulines everything i said which supports it.

Heres one paragraph of the 12 page analysis.

U.S. governors lead overseas missions seeking investment and promoting trade, establish international offices, meet with heads of government, receive ambassadors, and take positions on foreign policy of key economic states that border other nations. This analysis describes how governors are involved in participating in U.S. foreign policy, explains why governors seek to voice their views and play an active role in working with leaders and issues beyond their state's borders, and argues that U.S. states and governors need to be better conceptualized and considered in both international relations theory and foreign policy analysis. This study reveals that governors with greater institutional powers?such as appointment and budgetary control?as well as personal powers?derived from their electoral mandate, ambition, and public approval?are more likely to have higher degrees of foreign policy activity? This also might include Military activity within the states they govern and border states as well as the states National Guard for which they control. These actions are more likely to take place during wartime and also from governors representing U.S. states bordering Canada, Mexico and Russia.

1) i grew up in alaska
2) i grew up fishing in alaska - i am very well aware of territorial issues, border issues with russia, poaching as well as which fisheries are state regulated and which are federally regulated under the Magnuson Act
3) i spend many years fishing in Russia and have been a party to breaking every regulatory law they have in that respect.
4) A state governor has zero to do with military and national security issues
5) the national guard is not the military and has nothing to do with national security except under the command of the federal government.

negotiating field trips to Magadan or successfully having some frozen turd on the alaskan map become the sister city to Korf or some horrible ex-stalinist gulag prison camp (one of many where i've also been) hardly equates to foreign policy experience.

U.S. governors lead overseas missions seeking investment and promoting trade, establish international offices, meet with heads of government, receive ambassadors, and take positions on foreign policy of key economic states that border other nations. These actions are more likely to take place during wartime and also from governors representing U.S. states bordering Canada, Mexico and Russia.
i appreciate the second cut and paste... you really went the extra mile. unfortunately for you, i have been on both sides and seen these missions first hand. that's not foreign policy. a group of jackasses from washington flying to Vladivostok to work out some deals to sell more apples, knowing its a worthless trip to a lawless area, while they shoot vodka and bang whores isn't exactly foreign POLICY experience.

Suggesting that somehow she is more qualified to meet with Iran or North Korea because as the Governor of Alaska, she sent a delegation of eskimos to participate in a native dance festival in Chukhodka, is laughable.

Right wingers have been harping on the idea that Sarah Palin has national security "experience" because she "commanded" the Alaska National Guard. CNN's Campbell Brown puts that notion to rest in this clip:

The CNN clip above highlighted a NY Times editorial!

This is just another example of how the Gov. Palin pick has got most in the liberal media "flustered." Especially the women! NYT's Gail Collins says one thing, CNN's Cambell Brown something opposite.

talk about dumbing down America

first Steve Doocy said it and we all laughed at him

then Cindy McCain said it and got away with it

Now John McCain has said it too - "Alaska is right next to Russia"

Like the Daily show said: Alaska is also the home of tallest mountain in North America, Mt. Mckinley ... Which is closest to space. That should make her qualified to run the space program.
