PhotoShopt Gurus - Save for web color shift?

Hey,

I am running PS CS3 on Mac OSX 10.5.4.

When saving files for the web there is a color shift in the output images. I have google'd with no luck and tried every configuration I can think of to no avail.

If someone has solved this problem it would be greatly appreciated if you could share your knowledge.

Thanks.

what is your color profile set to before you export it? Probably just seeing the difference between the two profiles.

It sounds like you're shooting using the Adobe RGB color space, and you need to convert these images to the sRGB color space for web.

That should fix your problem.

I actually have tried a few different ones.

sRGB
Color LCD
Color LCD Calibrated

Ive also tried every varient of color management policies.

RGB off
RGB covert to working RGB
and Preserve Embedded Profile

I've also tried turning color management off all together.

No combo so far has solved the issue.

PS - I should note I'm not a shooter but rather a designer, and this issue suddenly appeared. Everything was fine until about a week ago...

When you say color shift, is your white yellowish?

Sorry, my bad, I hadn't finished my thought before I hit submit. Focus was torn between too many things.

Anyhow, I run CS2 on windows. I have had it happen before so that when I tried to save for the web, the white turns a yellowish color.

I tried what seemed like zillions of things within photoshop. The way I finally fixed it is by going in to my control panel, and fixing it through the adobe gamma thing. It's been a good while since it happened, so I can't recall the specifics of why that fixed it.

But it did.

I don't know how that translates to a mac, or if it will even help.

maybe you're going from 255 colors to 216 in the 'saving for web'?

Photoshop has it's own color profiles, and MacOS has had it's own native profiles for years before Windows did. Start here; I bet you accidentally made a change for your LCD at some point.

Hivemind... i was just sent that and about to post it - did the trick. Probably not best for print design but for web it seems to fix it.

Thanks much for the post.
