Asking surfers to submit erotic stories

I'd like to ask surfers to send in erotic stories and articles and if I like them I'll post them.

Should I offer payment for this or say that theres no payment for
submissions? If payment how much should I pay for a published submission?

I'm guessing that if it's too cheap, people won't bother. If it's
too much, I'll get flooded with stories

Also is there a form online that I should have them sign that says I own the story if it's accepted?

If you are looking for exclusive rights to a story/article, you may have to offer payment - plus have some kind of form signed to this effect. Most will not be willing to give up all rights to their work - especially without compensation.

If you have a good site, many will contribute stories and such for you to use - and many will do this without payment.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Are you sure that your surfers will be able to give you the quality of story that you would need to publish?

I used to be the writer for a Dear Abby type column on an adult site and the submissions that the surfers would submit would be written so terribly that many times I would have trouble understanding what they were trying to ask me.

You would also have other peoples stories submitted to you without their knowledge.

Don't pay for all the stories. Put a vote script and pay for the one that gets most of the votes.

surfers are theives.

They steal pics and whatever they want.

Now theyll email it to you.

I wouldnt publish anything turned in by a further and not expect something to be stolen.

Well I'd just pay for the ones I wanted to post, the rest I'd just throw away.

But I guess they would be pretty shitty, and stolen.

I'd be real wary about posting actual content submitted by visitors on my system, unless it was in a sorta moderated weblog/bbs format, standard disclaimer style stuff "We didn't post your work, [email protected] did, sue them"

Im not really worried about plagarisism, if I got a complaint I'd take it down and give the info on who sent it to me.

I just wanted to know if I shold pay for submissions. Say $50 per story or article.

you don't have to pay that much for a story , but to publish it safely it needs to be copyrighted before you get it or you won't know the authenticity , you really can't own them unless you pay for them knowing the surfer actually wrote it or you would be responsible if you are stating that you are the owner of the stories and in fact they didn't write it .you need a license just like with pics or movies to cover your ass, what about offering links or something in exchange , some pay sites offer free subscriptions in exchange for stories.

Personally, *knock on wood*, I have never had a problem.

If you do that, I want to know.

I don't think you'd find "I'll take it down if someone bitches" would be very satisfactory to most artists (be they writers or photographers) if you didn't at least get defrauded by the person who sent their work to you. You have an obligation to only use legal material, which does NOT mean you can use anything anyone gives you UNLESS someone tells you that you don't have the right to use it.

Artistic expression is property just like a car. Would you want someone to borrow your car without being sure they have permission? It's called car theft.

So, make them go on record that they have the right to sell the story, either through being the author or the current owner of it. This must be done in writing. As far as I know, online forms have NO legal force at all. It's a pain to get things in writing, but you need to do this to protect yourself, otherwise why bother?

Also, be it a photo or a story, if you want to own it exclusively, it would be a foolish and/or fairly unaccomplished writer (or a pathologically vain one) who'd give it to you just to see it up on your site.
