Who here has been in a PRIVATE Jet?

Has anyone here ever chartered their own private jet before and can you tell us about the experience and costs?

for charter, skyjet.com is pretty good if you just want quick quotes to get an idea of what things would run you.

one of my friends has had a G4 for the past few years, and it's incredible, beats the shit out of commercial.

I've been in one, but I wasn't the one who paid for it. I asked how much it costs and they said about $5,000 an hour. It was a nice way to fly.

I was reading dupont registry earlier today and on the back cover there's an advertistement with Shaq promoting ebizjets. Here's the site, it's around $2,000 hr for a light jet http://www.sentientjet.com/default_redir.htm

that seems to be about what they quoted me as it's 3 hours to vegas and 3 hours home - $30,000

it all depends on what kind of jet you get - not all jets cost the same

also, if they have to fly to way up in northern manitoba to pick you up I would think they would charge extra for that

Costs are about the same as several business class tickets and its worth it - no waiting for hours to get on the plane and most private-jet companies include a limousine ride to your hotel.

My brother has a private jet... Visit this page to get an idea of what cost is for shared ownership and usage:

http://www.citationshares.com/tools/programs/

It's the only way to fly if you've got the cash.

Cheers,

Brad

We use them for all the major events when there's no way to get a good flight like Superbowl time, big fights and awards shows.

http://www.charterauction.com

It's cheaper than you would think especially if you are travelling with a full compartment of people.

I have ... but only up the front seat. Always wanted a jet endorsement on my pilots license so I shelled out the cash a few years ago.

Now if I only had the money to fly myself around in a jet on a regular basis.

about four years ago i flew from London to New York in a Goldwing/Goldstar or something, some jet anyway. It was pretty slick as you could get your driver to drop you right by the plane, and they would come and check your passport etc... on the plane - no fucking self righteous prick at the departure desk for you.

the only tense moment was when it had to stop and refuel in Quebec, they opened the whole airport up for us, but refused to accept the pilots 'fuel credit card' - for a while it looked like we were going to have to put $12000 worth of aviation fuel on my fucking amex. Still they relented in the end and woke up the right guy and ran the card.

all in all the least stressful journey I've ever made across the Atlantic.

My woman's parents co-own a house in Cabo and the co-owners own some Citation customizing company, so we always fly down there in nice jets.

The bitch of it is flying a small jet into Mexico is easy, flying out you get a free Blackhawk escort, courtesy of the war on drugs.

When I was still in the Army I had to fly home for an emergency late at night. Some General took pity on me and let me fly with him from Andrews Air Force Base to Wright Patterson Air Force Base. It was just me and him in a little jet. That was the longest and most uncomfortable ride ever. Other than that the flight was great.

I once flew in a float-plane with a door that you had to hold shut to keep from falling out. There was a big sign that said "maximum occupancy: 4", there were 7 big guys and a shit-load of photo gear.

We decided to take a helicopter back, but there was even less room. At one point somebody bumped the pilot and the 'copter jerked to one side abruptly. I thought for sure we were going to die.

When I managed for Taco Bell they flew me, another store manager and our respective district managers from Fort Worth, Texas to Lansing, Michigan on a biz trip.

It wasn't technically a "jet," I honestly can't recall the name and make of the plane but the way it was designed allowed it to fly over 30K feet much like a jet.

It was an interesting experience to say the least with just the four of us as passengers.

The bathroom wasn't accessible because the DM's loaded it up with coolers of beer

The most interesting part was the landing. I could see the runway to the right of us at about 3:00 while we are flying north at 12:00 then all of a sudden like in a roller coaster they drop the nose and bank pulling one of those 2 minute turns and now we are landing on that same strip flying south at 6:00.

Needless to say it got my stomach a bit.

wow, after spending some time on that website I can't see why anyone would want to OWN their own jet if they could use that service.
