i actually think this was a pretty good speech. she was serious with some humour here and there. she talked about her son going to be deployed in Iraq....and tried to portray herself as a simple working mom.
I think for the audience she was trying to attract it was the perfect speech. A lot of those female clinton supporters would definitely enjoy her speech as well.Comment

I am pissed at the Democrats because they were do bound and determined to be different that they practically handed the election to McCain. His choice of Palin blows my mind, but who knows, maybe there are more of those out there than even I knew existed.
When I drive/ride cross country I see a lot of local attitude, and trust me, there are a ton of people that share her ideals.

You did stand up comedy. Remember your first time in front of a big crowd? Put on top of that that she had to win people over. I'd say she succeeded.

My Dad is a card carrying member of the RNC and I love him and consider him one of my closest friends. In fact out of my love for my father and his battle with stage 4 cancer, I wrote a heart felt letter to that scumbag Giuliani so my father would get a note from him because I knew it would mean so much to my dad.

Many of those same people eat up the shit about a 6,000 year old Earth, virgin births and how science is ruining the country.
I think it was a good speech and did what was intended. Like them or not, Republicans run Presidential campaigns better than anyone. To even have this race this close at this stage is a testament to that. I think the Palin pick will backfire and he'd have been better off with a guy like Romney who has all the dirt out on him by now and can still be strong.
Republicans would save me a few percent on my taxes every year. But the thing that astonishes me about those, especially in porn, that vote for the Republicans now is what they are doing to society. Crap about creationism in schools, not teaching our kids sex-ed, trying to get books banned from libraries. I just see a lot of other countries in this world getting smarter, putting out a lot of engineers and scientists. We seem to be going the opposite direction and Republicans are the ones pushing it that way.
So in the end, I'll pay a few extra bucks on my taxes (which I really think will be made up for by the fact the poorer will have more money to buy stuff with) and if it means this country doesn't get dumber thanks to people like Palin who believe we should be teaching our kids fairy tales in science class. If the Republicans were fiscally conservative and for small government, they'd have my vote, but they don't even bother doing that anymore.Comment

Sadly many can only see the few percent they pay in taxes. They don't see that their over all wage has declined and the cost of living has risen in the last 8 years. I only got to listen to parts of her speech, which I thought was well delivered and pandered to the audience in the Convention Center. Whether it panders to those in middle America is a question. I doubt if it will impress many in the big States that have to be won to get the Presidency.
The way she covered her family situation was laughable. She was telling us that like all normal families she has her ups and downs. I doubt if she has a clue what the normal ups and downs are in a normal family. They are paying the bills, holding on or getting a job, paying the rent/mortgage, filling the car with gas and getting a holiday every year.
Few families have a Downs Syndrome baby, an unmarried 16 year old pregnant daughter and the Mother trying to become VP. She is not normal as she tells us.Comment
