Crap One of the reasons we setup some business there were that we read alot of positive things on this board about them.. LOL things change fast in the hosting business.

I hate such shit. 3+ hours downtime is bloody much.

The support has been somewhat unpleasent as it has taken well over 24 hrs to get a hold of someone during the initial setup of the server.

As for downtime, i was checking MRTG graph and noticed no such downtime (time where the server was not pushing data to the net)

HI!
I guess their DNS server must be down since all my sites are accessable via IP address plus my root server name also resolves fine .........ai.net while all the domains parked at ns.dynamivhosting.com don't resolve.
So the problem is not at (their) our servers or their virtual hosting accounts but at their DNS server. I guess if someone knew the IP of their main site www.dynamichosting.com then we could also send a 24 SOS support tickets...

Otherwise I am also noticing problems in their support - few months ago one could get an imediate response from their support team but now, a lot of emails go unaswered...

I talked to Jay a few hours ago and he informed me that it was a problem with a switch and exptected it to be up within 15-20 minutes.
Then later I called again and talked to Chad to get a update.
From what I understand no data cannot get through to the DNS servers so the domains are down they have been working on setting up additional DNS servers in another facility to get things back online. Some boxes should be online but a lot is still offline.
Hope it get back online soon, so far it has been around 7 hours downtime

Hi Guy's,

In a situation like this what do you people plan on doin...?
I on the other hand would be very dissatisfied when it comes down to the hosting aspect of my buissness it's the most important.Furthermore i would deffinatly get some sort of compensation for all this, if not then i would move my service elswhere.

If you guy's continue with this problem :check out where i'm hosted :LikeWhoa

Ask For AlexMotts

I mean everybody has down time but For support not to keep people informed is just a mess.

P.S cheer up it will all get better

LOL, I almost miss Jay's "15-20 minutes".

"Hey bro, oh your mahine still doesn't work? Let me run over to the techs, I'll get back to you in 10 minutes."

Then when You call him an hour later...

"I'm not at my desk right now, but I'm running inthe corridor right now so I'll sit at my desk in about 20 seconds. Let me get back to you then."

....then when You call him an hour later...

"Shit bro, I had to <insert something here>. It was an emergency. But you're machine that doesn't work is my top priority right now."

.....one more hour later.....

Jay in a nutshell

do you mind sharing some of the horrible experience you had with Jay/Chad? We need to make a drastic choice pretty soon, and judging from the feedback to this thread, DH is not at all what we thought it would be.

What happened was that we got a shitty machine when we signed up. When it had been up for a little while it just froze. They had to go in and flip the switch so it could get back up again. After they did it would go again for a day or so.
Jay said that he had a new parts coming in. Nothing happened for a week, same shit every day. He told me he would call me back in 10 Jay Minutes (ehhh NEVER) every time to let me know how it was going.
After a while I got pissed and demanded a new machine, he said they would get on it that day. Of course I wrote down host id, MAC addresses and other stuff that are unique for a machine.
I called him the next day and asked how it went with the new machine, he said it was fixed.
I asked if everything was fixed (I saw that the host id and MAC address was the same as before). He said yes.
Then I asked him why they hadn't changed the NIC for example, cause it had the exact same MAC address as the old one. Then he came up with some lie and was going to get back to me in 10 Jay Minutes.

It went on like that for a month or so then I was sick and tired of his lies and that we didn't get a new machine (even though it was still freezing, but not as frequent any more). I told him I wanted compensation. He wanted to compensate us with 1 months bandwidth, which was about $100. Which was pretty pathetic considering all the problems we had gone through.
Then HE told us he was getting tired of us and said it was probably best that we found a new host

So we happily left

Ok,

I just got off the phone with Chad.

there is a problem between UUNET and Verizon. Something to do with switching.

They have been up all night working with the Tech's.

Bottom line is hang in there it will be back up soon.

I have been hosting with these Guys since day one. 3 box's 50mbs and never a problem.

I just talked to Chad too. They are working on it. Shit happens sometimes ya know. I've been very happy with Dynamic Hosting in the past, this has never really happened. So to all those people who are "spamming" your hosts, shame on you. I guess when your shit hits the fan one day, we'll have to throw Dynamic Hosting in your customers faces.

yes mates....

We have exacly the same problems with our dedicated servers...

Everything you posted on this thread about DynamicHosting is 100% right....

We do all the support of our machine ourselfs....we do not share the root password with those guys....

They only do DNS and Hard (using the server button) rebooting...

But even in those cases when they only have to reboot a server by pushing the reset button... They take usually up to 48 hours....

We even considered buying a remote rebooting switch for our servers....

In 5 years of online experience we never seen a support like this :-(

I've never really had a problem getting support from Dynamic Hosting. At ANY hour of the day I have called and either jay or chad almost always pick up the phone. Have you tried calling them?

You have been very lucky
We have several servers with them for more than a year....and we know what is bad support.....

taking up to 48 hours to push a server buttong is too much for us

Shouldnt the DNS servers have been multihomed? If that was the case, where UUNET/Verizon has packet switching, the DNS servers would have still been running.

I use my own DNS servers (not running on their network) and only depend on Dynamic for streaming Video. I do know i was not down over the night (no loss in traffic) but i assume their DNS servers would be on the same type of setup as my box..

Multi-Homed Geographically distributed DNS servers....

We signed-up today at

http://www.alldomains.com/corp/dns.html

But their services looks like a little expansive....

50$ a year for one zone...
100$ a year for 5 zones....

etc....

Anyone asked to credit their accounts for the downtime?

We had 3 servers down for ~ 11 hours. They credited us $350 for a downtime like that on one server last month... guess this time an $700 would be the minimum. I confident we lost $800 + easy with the downtime.
