Who here isn't registered to vote?

Obviously not everybody is American so not just talking about American voters but it is obviously top of my mind right now. Who here isn't registered to vote and why not?

I'm not registered. I didn't register because you tend to get jury duty if you're regged. ;)

Never had one mail/call for jury duty. So, I guess it works.

never registered or voted - 1 vote would never make a difference in my area - i might have voted if it was a close contest between 2 parties though.

If everyone believed in 'one person' cant do. The world wouldn't be what it is ;) 1 vote can always help one way or another. ;)

Because the government doesn't know who you are if you don't vote? I would assume you pay taxes.

I'm registered, and WILL vote!

I wish every eligible GFY member would register-and-vote. Maybe, we should all be encouraging site members to do likewise, too!

IMHO, this is not a time to sit on the sidelines.

Im sure they know me by my SS number but depending on the jurisdiction you live in they use that list. I also dont have my car registered, have stolen plates, keep my money offshore to avoid paying taxes, and only use cash

Don't have to register in Denmark everyone over the age of 18 gets a card in the mail they have to bring to the voting place and thats it.

I' have missed one election ever and that was for European parlament other than that I always have voted I see it as my duty and it gives me the right to bitch and moan over the current government.

It is more or less the same in the UK. I can't even remember how I got onto the voting role here but I am. Every now and then you get something in the mail asking you to update the people of voting age in your home and you send that in. Then when it is coming up to an election you get your polling card in the mail and you bring that to the voting station on the day.

It is kind of neat being able to vote both here and the States (I am a citizen in both). I just had my absentee ballot for the US election come through the post from the States yesterday and I sent it off today. So, I have already voted.

The majority of adults over 18 have the right to vote in the States too but you have to register (in most states) to act on that right.

Another reason not to register or bother voting is because of the electoral college and your vote is going to be trumped 5 to 1 by people voting the other party regardless of who is running because of the state you live in. Your vote only matters in swing states like Ohio.

Its a terrible way to think but its true
