How much more are you gonna love it when you realize that executables can be downloaded to your harddrive and executed without your permission, with zero notice whatsoever? i'm sure it will be fixed by the official release date, but for now, chrome is pretty fucking dangerous to be operating...

beta-tester 09-04-2008 02:48 AM

it'll be fixed soon, don't worry ;)

polish_aristocrat 09-04-2008 02:51 AM

can't be bothered to check out Chrome, I'm not geek enough...

beta-tester 09-04-2008 02:53 AM

lol, it's not for geeks bro :) It's really useful and amazing browser with awesome user experience.

google chrome sucks so far for me..

I cannot use my scroll up and down with my touchpad within it, and also it does not appear to have a multi proxy switch extension available which I need for surfing some of our secured areas.. other than that it looks nice.. one thumb up, one thumb down..

Silly assumption... You miss out on a whole lot just because you're afraid to be geeky. No offense, but instead of "not geek enough" I'd call it "too sheepish"... :2 cents:

It's a beta. You know, short for "beta testing". You run the risk by downloading a beta no matter what OS you prefer.
I run Linux, but I still threw it onto my VM copy of Windows to give it a test spin.

Chrome steals your 404 traffic. Try and see what happens.

beta-tester 09-04-2008 08:22 AM

no it doesn't.... works great for me on pages which have 404 page.

Which is worse: loving everything shiny or hating everything just to be negative?

They both suck, which is why the people in between came up with the term "cautiously optimistic" :upsidedow

Hm, not really that way. I don't get everything negative, but just take everything new up with a fraction of suspicion.

Ok it's looking good.

But where do you enable plugins? It says to go to to the Under The Hood tab in the Tools/Options menu, and enable plug ins under web content.

There's nothing there. Well, except a "change google gears" button that has nothing to do with plug ins.

Also, so far, Chrome only works with an advanced Beta version of Java (which you can't install anyway since you can't enable plugins ... )

I'm probably missing something... anybody know?

:D

In 10 years from now Google will be the biggest information source about people on this planet. They will know everything, from what you eat, where you drive to how often you crap.

I don't find anything special about it.
