Don't know what part of the country you are talking about but New Orleans does thrive off of tourism.

I'm talking about two states that got ran over by a Hurricane, the Tourism in N.O. doesn't fund every local city, area, town in the bi-state region. And the Tourism it does produce isn't enough to fund a disaster plan, it isn't Las Vegas.

So, N.O. is like a 22 year old webmaster that spends his money as fast as it comes in.

It doesn't matter how fast they spend it, we are talking billions, which goes back into the city to help improve it, so it does get spent.

How many Cities can you name that could start funding something like this? Most Cities run on the edge of Bankrupt along with most States.

Both would have to really increase your taxes, tourism would need to be taxed, everything would need to be taxed more, the state needs billions of surplus money. That would have a huge effect on the area, the poor, everyone, in a very bad way.

You realize that federal assistance is there if they cross their t's and dot their i's, and turn in the forms.

They got federal assistance, you said the state should pay for it. It's not like they would have or could have evacuated the region, and both states known to have done it.

And when it comes to peoples lives, making sure some pile of shit paper work has a t crossed is total bullshit.

yeah, I am sure you would feel that way if the feds just came in and took over things in your state under the guise of saving lives.

That paperwork is there for a reason.

Is this the state coming in to evac people before a disaster happens? Well of course the state would have a problem with that, just as the people would.

And not crossing a T or dotting an I, means paper work was filed but not done correctly. So if this was after the disaster, the fed gov has no excuses.

Sorry, now you are rambling. I am having to read three times to figure out what you mean. I am going to go watch some TV.

The state and local government in N.O. and LA dropped the ball, big time. :2 cents:

Self reliance, hints at states rights, and the responsibility of locally elected officials should not be spoken of. A strong Federal Govt that handles all state issues should be the talking point of the day.

It was clearly the fault of the Federal Govt.
