there is always time to grow a set if you think those are bad, check this out, looks like its held together with string and chewing gum Yet it took off in about 50 feet and looked like it flew really well
So so cool...would love to learn to fly, but scares me half to death...even though your chances are better in a car accident!! And that's a proven fact but still....you figure that out!!
Several years ago we went to Oregon for the Red Bull Flugtag where toss homemade man-powered flying contraptions over the river. It's insane what people come up with to try to make fly.
Not that those are on the same level as ultra-lights. At least an ultra-light looks like a plane.
JFK.. is there anywhere you go without a camera? ;)
I always enjoyed this little airplane.. Was built by the Late Leeon Davis and was called the DA-11.. It's a home built airplane that he made just to show that airplanes could be affordable.
It's engine I shit you not was a 22hp Biggs & Stratton lawn mower engine.. hence the name "mow power to the people". It had a top speed of 125mph and weighed about 375lbs it also got about a 100mpg on the flight distance.
I know this is a really stupid question...I don't know much about ultralight's, but where's the steering wheel???
there is NO steering wheel, in these, the stick you see in the middle front of the seat, is how you partially manouver them It is steered on the ground by the pedals
I really can't believe some of the contraptions that people are willing to get into.
Is part of the thrill of getting into a tin can like this 1000's of feet up in the air knowing that you can die?
the new ultralights, such as the one below, are far removed from Tin cans, they are government regulated and approved. Furthermore its not about dieing but the Thrill of flying

PK
yes, usually the bathroom............ when I go to neat places like this open house, I always take the camera, to record what I saw, so I can jerk off to it later
Do you have to have a license for those yet??? USed to be that if they were listed as experimental, you did not.
yes, you have to have a license, these are govenment approved advanced ultralight, most of the built in the Czhec republic. They changed classifications a few years ago, these are capable of cross country flights
Can you eject yourself easily in case of disaster?
Not quite, BUT, the model right at top of the page carries a Ballistic Parachute, which when activated, will float you down with the plane. This works from as little as 100 feet depending on the aircraft
Well the Samba weighs 573 lbs empty, you add fuel,1 or 2 people, gross total weight is 1232 lbs. So what ever the diff between fuel and people and dry weight
