Overture Listings

I submitted 26 or so listing for approval with Overture on the 20th. It set estimated completion for the 24th. It's now the 28th and still no approval. Anybody else seeing these types of delays? Should I drop them an email, or be patient (not easy for me)?

Patience is a virtue.

FYI: I ran a test a while back, and got listed #1 for keyword "sex" on Goto.com. I burned $200.00 in 6 hours. I made a few signups, but, it wasn't enough to offset the expense.

Lower placement is better. More bang for the buck.

Yeah, doing $0.05 for pretty much every item. I did quite a few test with high placement a while back, just not worth it. I know the traffic there is good; now that we have our tours tweaked, I want to see how well we can convert off of PPC traffic.

I heard the paid Google ads are do really well. Have you used those yet?

Yes, not much traffic flowing though (only bid on very targetted keywords).

Cool. I'll keep that in mind. Although, for some reason, I've gotten a few thousand hits this month from Google w/o an ad, with different targeted keywords. I'm almost thinking that ads are not necessary, just good metas, and a ton of pages linked together do well.

The TGP I run received near 60k "Type-Ins" this month, + a few thousand hits from search engines, Google, AOL, Yahoo... etc...

The Pay-Per-Click ads are great for quick exposure, but, I'm still gung-ho for getting listed manually. Your ranking seems to be a little better. I think they weight your site, based on how it was submitted. Not sure though.

I hear the competition hitbots the shit out of your links if you are buying top spots for high-demand keywords.

Yeah, they have backlogs as usual...
They were on time for my last 2 submissions but they always run late, especially if your a new client.

LOL... Potato PotAto... I just group them all together into the "Type-In" category, as they can't be parsed out... just means "No Referrer".

Do you know of a way to tell if they are actually "Type-Ins"?

Isn't "Bookmarks" pretty much the same as "Type-Ins", just someone stuck you on their Favs, instead of typing it in.
