Well what's up Stellar? are you back in biz or are you still wiped out?
|
The sites are up at the moment, and hopefully up to stay this time guys.
I'm hoping 5th time is a charm because I have been told 4 times before things were fixed and the sites were online at the time, only to find out an hour or so later all of my sites down again. Gerard who is very nice, and it is sad that the situation has made be be short tempered e-mailed me this: "I have spoken with one our Technical Managers and we strongly believe the server is stable and you should not have any further issues with this." He was a very nice fellow, but I kind of don't like the fact that I'm not hearing "it's fixed for sure, no doubt about it" instead I get "we strongly believe the server is stable and you shouldn't have anymore problems" because that is exactly what I was told before. Hopefully everything is fixed for good, but I would still like to get a definitive answer that is was rock solid 100% fixed without a doubt. But the sites are up at the moment, and that is where it stands. God forbid the sites go down again and I have to re-open this thread. |

They are still up.. so far since Gerard said there should be no further problem, there has been no further problem.
Again, this has been told to me before and then the sites went down. So i'm keeping a close eye and watching it, hope webair is to. Thanks again for the upgrade Gerard, please don't forget to mention it to Chris :) |

Have no fear to switch hosting my friend
Find a new company, ask them if they can do the transfer for you Most of the time they are willing to do this, and your nightmare experience can be forgotten about. Point is, when you stick with people who let you down many times, you need to understand the message you read between the lines. Again, have no fear to find better :2 cents: |
The sites have been up ever since the last fix,
and to answer your question, no I would not open a new thread if my sites wen't down again, I would have to switch hosting in the case. But the fact is they are finally back up rock solid, and I am fucking relieved. Like a quivering little boy who has been whipped, boy was that an episode to not be repeated. I really got to say thanks to everyone for the helpful post, it really did help get the situation resolved. You bastards are the best ;) Thanks for the help fellas, truly. |
Not to mention it took me over a week to upload a site to them because they would only accept 50 KB/s of bandwidth to me when I can upload at over 200 KB/s to another server in the same city as them. They said it was my connection to the Internet. lol
Gerard is cool. He really does care and try to do his best but webair simply doesn't have the peering bandwidth. Support is ok, but they tend to blame others way too much when it really is their own fault. Most of the time it's miscommunication on their end internally. |
funny and sad thread at the same time.... like someone said, if you have problems.. switch hosts if you're not satisfied with the fix
|
When it comes to hosting who cares if Girrard is friendly or not? what matters is if the host has Excellent support and a Quality network. If those conditions are not met then the host is useless. If you are serious about your business then you need Quality hosting plain and simple. Fair prices, Great Support, fast speeds and No bad downtimes. If your host cant provide these basic services then you're at the wrong host.:2 cents::2 cents:

I take back what I said about their support being ok. I was dealing with them for over an hour today. They kept on insisting it was my code and didn't even correctly identify the problem. They repeatedly kept on saying "please hold" without any response when I repeatedly asked them for an update. And this is after Gerard said he spoke to him about doing that too.
Then they said they had found the problem and that... big surprise, it was a problem with my code. When I proved to them that wasn't even the issue they did some more research and concluded that... it was my code. I explained that I could change all the links in my HTML to make it work but that it was a workaround and not a solution. They claimed they couldn't help me because it was a coding issue and not a server issue. While they were working on it I did some google searches and recommended a solution. They kept on telling me that it wouldn't solve the problem and that it was for an unrelated issue. After ending the conversation and implementing the solution I suggested in the first place (1 parameter of 1 line in the .htaccess file) it worked perfectly. Thanks webair for wasting over an hour of my time. Thanks for ignoring me when I kept asking for an update. Thanks for telling me it was my fault. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways when I suggested a solution. I now realize it's all my fault and that it's a problem with my code. Sorry Gerard, I was trying to help you guys out and give you the benefit of the doubt but your support has serious issues. I don't like saying bad things about people but at the same time people need to be warned. I worked doing enterprise support for 3 years and I would have been fired if I provided the kind of support your techs are providing. Ketan is the absolute worst there. If you get him I suggest you ask for someone else. p.s., I'm still a little confused. I know it's my code that's the problem but I haven't modified my code (only the apache config) and it's working now. Hmm... Must be a problem with my code. |
