So, I tried to read the informative posts in this thread.. not many, but..... :) I signed up at forex.com and got my Practice Account. I am sick today so I will not be doing much adult work, but I could need something to read on my laptop in bed. If there are some forums or messageboards you think I should know about regarding this, please PM me! If there are anything else you think I should know about Forex, PM me. $1,000 a day sounds like heaven to me, but I still have no idea what this is so I better read up...

I played through oanda.com but from the start I tried to pretend it was real money... I still did some bigger trades that were more risky but generally I was fairly conservative. The downside was that to earn even $100 I'd have to do a bunch of small, conservative trades which would consume several hours. Doesn't seem worth it.

I never did start with real money since my local currency isn't USD... any gains could end up half wiped out when I convert to AUD.

Being able to experiment with play money is great because you can see how quickly things go red. Keep at it, but don't get overexcited and forget that one day it could be real money you're losing. :2 cents:

What many of you are failing to realize is that Shamus McFamous will NOT be coming back to tell us about the 20k that he will inevitably lose. It's part of the game, you win some, you lose some. You just count on your winnings exceeding your losses.

I felt compelled to make this post as I see entirely too many people getting excited about the opportunity to make "easy money" when in reality this game is FAR from easy. There's a reason over 90% of people are on the losing side of the table.
