Haven't tried them but it appears the Windows media encoder might do the job.. or something called AviScreen.. anyone used them or something else?

I've seen a lot of tutorials done with Camtasia and I see they have a free 30 day trial. I've never used it myself.

That looks pretty sweet.. I just need to get something "brain dead" so that someone can send me a vid of their screen so I can fix what they're seeing and I'm not.

Why not use Netmeeting if they use Windoze? Already included free.... Start -> Run -> type "conf" and click OK. View their desktop and take control.

There ya go.

http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/ is free, browser based, easy to use and saves the file as a .mov, pretty basic but should work for what you want.

I use Snag-it but I just use it to record the behaviour of my browser/desktop. Camtasia is the more advanced 'presentation' software - same company though.
