dell's studio line is top notch. If the UK is anything like over here you'll find coupons and all kinds of good stuff to make them CHEAP...

I think its time to sell my E1705 and but a 17" studio one with the backlit keyboard so I can type WHILE I spank it in the dark....

Keep that. It's the only one they've made in the last 3 years that's worth a shit. My less-than-a-year Vostro needs repair, again, but my 6400/E1505 survived 3 trips to Latin America and back.

I had a 1505 and I MIGHT have liked it more than my E1705. I was a dumbass and got the fully upgraded LCD with mine and honestly the screen resolution is higher than it should be at 17" and the super glossy screen is a bitch in areas with any sunlight...

I'm thinking about either picking up a 15" or 17" I'm not really sure which. Its nice having a big screen but 17" is just too bulky I think. In the end whatever has the best coupons at the time I purchase will be it. I don't want to buy a used laptop because I've had like 6 laptops over the past few years that I've sold for more than I paid thanks to coupon stacking. This 1705 though is on its THIRD keyboard now and is just showing its age. I looked through my Dell order history that goes back 2 years and I had it at least a year before the oldest purchase on there. Do you want to keep using the same laptop after 3 years? nobodies holds up perfectly for that long... time to just drop $500-600 and get a new one. I'll keep the 7200 RPM drive and transplant it to the new one since I'm happy with the drive.
