Show Them Everything, But Give Them Nothing.

My marketing strategy revolves around this term. I always like to pull out the big guns when showing a surfer what they will see in a members area rather than show them blurry images in a gallery for example. Some people like to show lower quality content to tease a surfer into needing to see the real thing inside.

Fact is, a lot of low budget paysites can make a killing on sales when I high budget kickass splash page puts you in the poor house. I like to think that quality sells rather than a shitty site made by some zit faced newbie.

Whats your strategy? Pull out the guns or or show them low qual. to tease them into a sale?

That's not really a term, it's more of a motto

Works for DDF but unlike some they have it on the inside too.

Marketing has a lot to do with how a product is presented. Show them shit and you go broke. Show them quality in a high quality manner you might make money. Tease them with medium quality with promises of high quality and you may get rich....

          I think

I like tours and samples that show real content rather than a graphical color bombs.

            Heres a good one

or show them nothing and give them everything?

curiousity killed the cat, and member retention is great

Like a strip club in an industrial neighborhood.... you surely do not see the goodies outside of the club. There is a Spearmint Rhino up the road, and it looks like a plain brick building except for the pretty sign out front. But on the inside....well you'd have to go in to see for yourself

Thats like asking a man to hand over the check before he can enter the car showroom.

A wise move would be, if you know what works, to not make tutorials and tell the world about it. You'll end up making more in the long run.

                          I think it depends....

If you are promoting a program that pays you $35 per sign up or whatever (no recurring). Sure as shit show THEM THE GOODS!!! You want them in there! Fuck who cares if they cancel after a month! It is not your worry! You get your $35 and it is the sponsor's job to keep em. I know you sponsors who pay $35 a sign up are just hating me for saying that, but hey it's the truth...

If you are promoting a recurring program. You have to look at the program and see if there is enough unique content for the member to stay. If you are promoting a program where the content is EXTREMELY niche the members will stay forever just because they can't see it anywhere else. But if it is just another teen site there better be a ton of fucking shit in that members area or they will be out of there in a few days....

Anyways that is my thoughts on the subjects. I do really well with recurring programs and pretty good with pay per sign up. I usually promote 80% recurring and 20% pay per sign up and I find it balances out very well!
