Hi Pro! glad you are ok! I totalled a car before as well, and the impact is pretty heavy. I was wearing my seatbelt and had no airbag. Hurt my knees as well and my head on the steering wheel. Also had marks/bruises from the seatbelt.
Anyways, If you want to get a more secure car you can look into the mid-sizes ones, some are very nice like the new accords or nissan altimas, or even nicer lexus ones like the is-f. If you go for a SUV, there's the toyota highlander that is fucking huge(3 rows or 4 rows of seats) and is an Hybrid. Best of luck!
