If you get a cold or the flu, you are on your ass for days, sometimes up to a week. You can't do much of anything, you miss work and often the people around you get ill as well. Nasty stuff we can all agree.

Yet if you get say Gonorrhea or Chlamydia, both come with aweful social stigmats, your piss may burn and you may have a little puss. You take a pill or get a shot and it all quickly goes away. You do not miss work, you don't feel like ass and your kids don't get it (at least I hope not).

So which would you rather get? The Flu and be put down on your ass, or Gonorrhea and take a pill and continue as is without missing a beat.

hard question to answer. i had a friend in college with the Clap and took weeks to go away.

it all comes down to what im doing. if im just sitting in my house working then probably the std. if im going to some even that i dont want to attend, then hands down the flu! haha

I chose Flu. With the Clap you'd have to go to the doc for testing, then get a prescription, then buy your OTC medication, then you can start the recovery process.

With Flu it just goes away by itself. So in practice it might take longer to get rid of the Clap.
And I also never had it so I don't know how it feels, so I'd rather go for the Flu since I know how it is.

As much as the flu totally sucks, I am terrified of STDs, to the point where I turn down a lot of great opportunities. I've never had one, and I am completely paranoid about them. That's one thing I like about wearing latex dresses to clothing-optional parties... it doesn't matter so much if someone bumps into me - I am wearing a giant condom - ha!

I love taking risks, but that is one thing I just don't want to risk. Maybe I just need to get one so I can go through the process and find out it's not all that bad. Any volunteers?

you can get rid of ghonno easier then the flu on alot of cases... I ve caught it before I've been out for 3-7 days I've caught the flu and was in the hospital for a week on IV's untill the day Im in the hospital for a week on IV's from the drip

You forgot to mention how they test you for gon or chlamydia...

I've had the test and was just a urinary tract infection. Swab stuck in your peehole first, then a metal probe with barbed edges. Its the male version of a pap smear. Never again.

I would take the STD its just a bacterial infection. Just like the flu, but it can be cured within a few days. The flu you can be sick as a dog for a week.

Glad someone finally brought this up -- it's totally different from a woman's perspective so as long as it wasn't a killer flu / just a week, then I'd take the flu.

Also from a chick's perspective: with the flu you get to lose weight, too, so that's an added bonus if you're . . . plump and want to be less plump.

Anyway, I like having an excuse that I can openly crow about to get out of doing stuff/stay at home in bed watching television. Of course, I can do that now if I want to, but it seems so much more justifiable with an illness.

For one, when you have the flu you dont really have to go to the doctor. Besides what ever you tell the doctor stays between you & him in 99.9% of the cases. And with the clap you dont need to see any doctor just buy zithromax and it be gone within 1-2 days

They don't do that anymore..

It's tested by urine now.

But if you are desperate and want to have sex 1 week after taking the meds they will do the swab to test for living bacteria in the urethra..

Because the test is soo sensitive that even dead bacteria can show up as a positive.

With an STD, it is EVERYONES personal responsibility to get check ups if they are sexually active.

If you've had the drip more than a couple of times you tend to know right away if you have it, and can treat it with a dose Zithro immediately. You won't even have the fancy yellow Pollock painting in your underwear. In those cases it's much better than having the flu. But this is only convenient if you live in a place that sells it over the counter. In the US catching the drip is fucking expensive and embarrassing.

Few here even have sex, so the idea of getting the drip is incredibly scary and foreign. The first time you catch it it is scary. After the 5th time it's no big deal.

I'm a doctor myself. Most western countries have a not-for-profit healthcare system. There's plenty of more interesting and more attention-worthy stuff to do than to check up people every few months who take no responsibility for (the effects of) their lifestyle.

To add you generally have the drip much worse in the states, since many people procrastinate about treatment (sexual repression, insecurities, uneducated), and then have to wait to see a doctor. Alot more costly and time consuming than those "crappy 3rd world countries" where Zithromax is sold over the counter and you can treat yourself.

commonsense So Fucking Banned Join Date: Feb 2007 Posts: 1,790	If you've had the drip more than a couple of times you tend to know right away if you have it, and can treat it with a dose Zithro immediately. You won't even have the fancy yellow Pollock painting in your underwear. In those cases it's much better than having the flu. But this is only convenient if you live in a place that sells it over the counter. In the US catching the drip is fucking expensive and embarrassing. Few here even have sex, so the idea of getting the drip is incredibly scary and foreign. The first time you catch it it is scary. After the 5th time it's no big deal. Alot more costly and time consuming than those "crappy 3rd world countries" where Zithromax is sold over the counter and you can treat yourself.
