Yea he managed to really upset my mother... she had a stroke and she remarried a trucker who is never home and she needs someone around to make sure she is ok... She can't do much of the house work and she is not to be upset due to her very high risk of having another stroke.

Rather antiquated saying, originally coined because it used to cost a dime to make a phone call from a pay phone way back in ancient times (the 60's, 70's). Squealers would "drop a dime" in a phone booth to call in anonymous tips to the cops, etc.

It should be updated to "drop a quarter"... but somehow it just doesn't have the same ring to it.
