If laptop gets stolen but I got the theifs IP, any chance to get it back?

Lets say my laptop gets stolen but I have one of those programs that will send a mail with the IP-address. Is there any chance at all to get it back? Will the police do anything?

There is always a chance to get it back. Asking your local police department about it would greatly increase this chance.

I agree. They can trace it and they might be able to get it back.

Help out the police department. Get the contact info of the security department at the isp for the ip and give them exactly who they have to call to help you.

you'd have a better chance calling your local FBI agency. your local police dept will be clueless as to what to do
