Entirely likely, but considering there's more theaters now, and ticket prices are higher... it does have an unfair edge.

Titanic is more for the general crowd (including chicks, old people etc) so I don't think DK will beat it.

And in 1997 they said that about Titanic over Star Wars and ET. In 1975 Jaws beat Gone with the Wind. So that was "unfair". And if the Dark Knight does beat Titanic in 20 years some movie will pass it and you'll be saying the same thing about that movie. The record is the record. The fact that prices have been going up for the last 11 years and the Dark Knight would be the ONLY one to do it says a lot. Even adjusted for inflation the Dark Knight is 94th all time and climbing.

Yeah it's made $324 mil in 13 days. Before the Dark Knight, Pirates 2 was the fatsest to $300 mil and that took 16 days. Dark Knight did it in 10. Shrek 2 is the fastest to $400 mil and that took 43 days. The Dark Knight will have that within 17 days. Considering we are getting into the slow time of movies and not much of anything coming out with all the "blockbusters" already coming out, the Dark Knight has a chance to hang around for awhile. If the Dark Knight is not at $500 mil by day 43 I will be shocked.

The most amazing thing on that list is the placement of ET. Think about the number of movie houses at that time, and the cost of a ticket.

I'm not saying it's not an impressive accomplishment. Try not to read more into it than what it is.
