but as far as there is a hotel across the street where I live at the moment, I can easily get a decent free wi-fi at home.

Combining with a cable in the office and a mobile connection (USB modem) to make sure I can always get online.

I don't live close enough currently to borrow someone elses wifi so I just have RR cable in the home but I have no problem with using someones wifi if I can....

I used to use my neighbors when I couldn't get FIOS yet and didn't want to get locked into a DSL contract...

I also used to use Starbucks for free back when I first got started on the web and needed to connect from my day job.

Actually my neighborhood is all secured. mostly old people with no computers and the one wireless network I pick up is secured.

All the connections round here are secure.....High speed is too valuable to loose. I am on an extended vacation to South Africa and at present pay just on $1000.00 for 39 Gig of monthly transfer to our sites, that includes the monthly line rental. Can't wait to get back home to the US, hopefully soon.

There was this time about 2 years ago that I was feeding off of somebody's wireless connection for a couple of months. I was moving and got the connection at my old place disconnected. Then there were delays in processing my move so I got stuck at the old place for a bit longer, so I took advantage of alternative means :D
