wow the UK is overly infatuated with Oasis. Over here we know them as the third-rate Beatles parody band that they are.

Liam can sing but he just has a rough voice, Noel is a better singer though, mabye it's because you are american and the accent sounds weird to you? Either way, they are musical genious.
Muse are very good by the way, never understood why they are not big in Amerca. |

I've noticed a pattern, the only people knocking Oasis are Americans....it's cool if you don't agree with the list, i didn't make it but personally i would have Sgt pepper #1, Stone roses #2 and Deffinitely mabye at #3. |

As much as the NME has glorified to overwhelming levels some of my favourite bands and it's my source of indie knowledge I do know it should not be taken that seriously ;)
Pulp FTW!

Some (ALOT) of the best bands in history are from somewhere in the UK, it's not what you think. But when a bunch of little cocksuckers think that they can write better songs than the beatles, then all the retards read the interview in spin and feel inclined to believe them because 99.9% of people know fuck-all about music...dude fucking come on.

According to that list, the spice girls are better than Elvis, Little Richard, The Ramones, Chuck Berry and Iggy Pop. Oh my.

Oasis being #1 isn't surprising considering it's a UK list.
What is surprising is Definitely Maybe #1 instead of Morning Glory, which just about every Oasis fan will tell you was their best album. Oasis never really got their recognition in the US, but for a period in the 90's they were the biggest band in the world. |

![]() That's just fucking obvious. The influence those bands had on every band that came after them is enormous. Putting Oasis on that list at all, let alone #1 is a fucking joke. |

How a nation that produced Zeppelin, The Who, Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Sabbath even blinks twice at a 3rd rate bands like Oasis or Coldplay is beyond me.

We have a winner.
Just like when American sportscasters show the top plays of the year (or all-time), isn't heavily slanted towards American sports, reviewers rate top movies and so on. There obviously is a bias and if the list was from an American source, you can bet there would be differences. |

I think it's safe to say that this magazine's target demographic is people aged 25-35. The really modern sounds aren't listed until around #30, yet they will do this list again in 10 years (and have a new readership demographic) and that Arctic Monkeys album at #86 will be moved into the top 10. |

Ahh, I see.. this is just a UK reader based survey... no one in their right mind would have the list so damn full of UK shit.

Considering that most of the greatest bands of all time are from UK my list would definitely have almost ALL UK shit at the top, co. But it would still look much different from this one.

I remember this list about 7 or 8 years ago had 3 radiohead albums in the top 5. It's not a bad list though.
I'd like to see Seal - Seal Paul Simon - Graceland Added though, and a couple of others squeezed in. |

I don't agree with the list either, it would be absolutley impossible to make a perfect top 100 list but Oasis definitely (no pun intended) do not get enough credit in America. The other guy that was bashing them admitted he didn't even listen to the album lol |

It's obviously a UK list but still a good list.
Just re-arrange it a bit and you have a US list. ![]()

Some 40,000 music fans were asked to name their favourite work in a survey by the book of British Hit Singles and Albums and NME.com. The vote was announced in last year's edition of British Hit Singles & Albums, said editor David Roberts. Anyone could vote for as many as 10 albums, in rank order, and probably 95 percent of the 40,000 votes came from Britain, he said. The list was basically done by the public |

Ah, so that even further explains it.
Many years ago our own MuchMusic asked viewers to name the top videos of all-time. New Kids on the Block were still popular (so yes this was a *few* years ago!) and the result was something like 3 of the top 5 were from them. Credibility of list = zero. Clearly the majority of voters were, as Matt suggested, in their 20s/early 30s, so there is an obvious bias towards newer bands ... but overall less so than I'd assume - there are plenty of true classics in there, just not as high as expected. |

UK music is shit i can admit that and im from the uk, cant say ive ever listened to a full beatles song its trash, same goes for the who, u2, zeppelin and all that other shit it all sounds the same. One or two oasis songs are ok i could listen to wonderwall without a problem. Dance/Drum & Bass beats all those shitty bands. But even kayne west, lil wayne etc are better than the beatles.

some shockers here for sure. Oasis? how can they be #1?? even if you really like them they are not getting the #1 slot please. The Beatles have to have that and the White Album should be higher. Radiohead could be higher as well. Everything that bad puts out is amazing

if that list was made in any part of the world it wouldn't be massively different. the uk has and continues to produce some of the biggest and best bands from the 60's to present day, in most genres with the exception of country, rap etc.
