                                          I have navigation in my car, I don't need it on my phone. I love mine, no regrets about buying it. I upgrade on a very regular basis though so as they improve it I will be getting the newer ones.

                                                          Cut and paste has been around on Apple computers since the earliest Mac Plus computers. What?s the big problem with implementing it on iPhones? Why is cut and paste so important? Suppose you?re browsing a web site and want to capture some text or a URL, or someone sent you an email and you want to grab some text from it and send to someone else. Not possible on an iPhone. Speaking of email, where?s the spell checker? Predictive typing is fine but spell checkers are everywhere else but here.

                                                                  1. Too expensive to own.
                                                                  Apple and AT&T may have shaved a couple of hundred dollars off the price but they will more than make up for it in monthly fees. If you take into account the regular monthly fee, the data fee, the text message fee, which used to be free, and the $99 annual mobileme fee you could end up spending over $1,000 a year to own an iPhone, that's 200 gallons of $5 gas.
                                                                  That is all personal opinion and not true in most countries. My iPhone only costs me $15 more a month than my regular cellular phone service and that's just because I chose to get data.

                                                                  Not Apple's or My fault that AT&T is taking full advantage of it's customers.

                                                                  2. Can't use the GPS like a GPS.
                                                                  Forget about getting turn-by-turn voice directions in your car from the new iPhone 3G. The iPhone SDK makes it pretty clear it’s not allowed, “Applications may not be designed or marketed for real time guidance.” Yes it will superimpose your position on a Google map, or show you the closest pizzeria but what about getting real-time route guidance? If you read reviews for other GPS devices you never come across a GPS that doesn’t provide some form of guidance. There’s a rumor that TomTom may be developing a guidance application but you have to wonder how they’ll get it past the Apple police.
                                                                  I dunno how true this is after picking up an iPhone with my buddy we had it running in my car and it was tracking our every move.

                                                                  It also had an option for directions.

                                                                  3. Can’t tether the iPhone to your laptop.
                                                                  Want to save sixty dollars per month for a 3G card for your laptop and use the iPhone instead? Not going to happen—not allowed. Although there are plenty of phones, including AT&T's Tilt, that will allow you to use your 3G phone as a high speed modem for your laptop, the iPhone won’t be one of them so you can add the cost of a 3G card for your laptop at $720 a year to your total cost of ownership.
                                                                  What % of cellular phone users actually want or need to be able to do this? 2%?


                                                                  4. Still no cut and paste.
                                                                  Cut and paste has been around on Apple computers since the earliest Mac Plus computers. What’s the big problem with implementing it on iPhones? Why is cut and paste so important? Suppose you’re browsing a web site and want to capture some text or a URL, or someone sent you an email and you want to grab some text from it and send to someone else. Not possible on an iPhone.                                                                   I've had my original iPhone for over a year and I will admit not being able to cut and paste has been SLIGHTLY annoying.

                                                                  5. Wimpy 2 MP camera.
                                                                  In the world of 5 MP Smartphones and 10 MP point and shoot cameras that you can buy for under $200, why is the iPhone still stuck with a measly 2 MP? That’s so 2003. While we’re at it how come we can’t record video, afraid the non-existent SD card might fill up? The iPhone should be able to stream video by now just like many other cell phones can already do right now.
                                                                  Yup the camera sucks... Haven't seen the 3g camera in use but I doubt it's much better.

                                                                  I think being able to take a good picture on your phone should be a cellular phone standard...

                                                                  6. No stereo Bluetooth.
                                                                  We thought the iPhone was supposed to be part iPod. At least they fixed the recessed headphone jack flaw (and called it a new feature) but the A2DP stereo Bluetooth standard has been around for a while and is missing from the iPhone.
                                                                  I use wireless bluetooth headphones at home and I love them.

                                                                  I would love if the iphone had a wireless headphone set to listen to music also.

                                                                  7. The list goes on.
                                                                  Still no Flash player for rich media content (what grudge does Steve Jobs hold against Adobe). Still can’t send pictures in MMS messages, still no native voice dialing, no mobile TV, no replaceable battery, no flash memory card, and on and on.
                                                                  Yup... But you can get mobile tv with an addon peice of hardware for your pc that sends your tv signal to any device tho.... the name escapes me right now.. The battery isn't soldered in place and with 8+ gigs who needs a flash memory card... and where would they put it? Sorry but i'm not carrying around something that can also carry a flash card..

                                                                  Also the most annoying thing on my Pearl is that the battery is removable so the back plastic peice easily comes off.. well it's just too easy and comes off at the worst times.. I like how the iphone is sealed up...

                                                                  And that's very true.... the reasons this guy gives for the iphone "sucking" are features that 90% of cellular phone users can live without...

                                                                  My original iphone has been the most enjoyable purchase in the last 10 years next to my r/c helicopter...

                                                                      The iphone is great but the new one sucks the battery dry. I have to recharge mine by mid afternoon and I really dont use it that much (not that important to be on the phone a lot).

                                                                      Besides that its the best phone I have used.

                                                                              ive used a lot of other phones and personally think the iPhone is the best.

                                                                              every phone has its pros and cons. I had a phone before that allowed most of the features this guy says the iphone lacks, but the phone itself was a brick, the battery life sucked and it would drop calls and have 1/2 the signal strength of other phones.

                                                                              my is that he is busting on the new iPhone because he doesnt have one

                                                                                      And everyone still demanded they get it. Not apples fault. Battery technology sucks..

                                                                                      Check your settings nobody I kno has to charge it mid day..

                                                                                                          Valid point, except for the fact that the iphone is marketed to that other 10%. The average cellular phone users don't want a ridiculously expensive phone with a thousand dollars in yearly fees attached to it... So once you've cut out the average non-demanding user who has a base nokia, all that leaves are the feature-hungry iphone consumers

                                                                                                              you need to get yourself a case m8. i have a plastic case on my new 3g iPhone thats really strong, and wont cause any breakage.

                                                                                                              Gripes i have include:
                                                                                                              contact merging-took me fucking hours
                                                                                                              no flash videos
                                                                                                              no cut and paste
                                                                                                              no stereo sound-its mono

                                                                                                              but good stuff:

                                                                                                              i have set my iPhone up as a remote to control my PC stereo, my wifes mac, and so on
                                                                                                              cool facebook app
                                                                                                              streaming radio
                                                                                                              very cool weather app
                                                                                                              where app-find cheap gas stations and other cool stuff
                                                                                                              urbanspoon-local restaurant gadget
                                                                                                              ny times app
                                                                                                              multiple ebay type auction site monitoring (garagebuy)


                                                                                                              and last but not least i can use my iPhone as a light saber. Surely that alone is worth the 3 billion dollars i have to pay in fees and excessive data costs because i left my content push on auto...

                                                                                                                          I've heard a conspiracy theory that the 3g iphone with mms and cut+paste was the first one built, and then they slowly removed features from it before releasing it in stages to apple fanatics.
