Is Blu-Ray worth getting?

I want to build a media computer and am wondering if getting a Blu-Ray is worth the $250?

And yes, I know about the PlayStation 3.

I have one in a new PC that I purchased a few weeks back. I also have it hooked up to a 30in monitor and have a fairly large collection of Bluray discs. I have yet to use the BR player in the PC.

Mine came with the drive, it wasn't an upgrade. I don't see the point in paying extra for one.

Good question... I'm not sure, I would need to check it. I suppose I could always get the BR later on... when they are cheaper and I have a better monitor.

I have a 20 inch HP monitor that I was going to use it for right now... bought it last November. I'm not sure on the specs.

We have a 61 in 1080p Samsung in the living room... with a BluRay player.
It's only REALLY intense if you have all the lights off.. and are sitting straight in front of it.. and you have Bose surround sound.. then it's badass for your action movies.

We only buy action movies or the really intense cartoon movies in 1080p... comedies and all that aren't worth it.

We're wanting to get the new big Sony 1080p projector.. for our theatre room.. but just haven't got it.
There's no point in getting bluray unless you have a bigass 1080p tv.

However, Costco has a Gateway right now.. with a 24inch 1080 PC monitor... and we hooked the bluray up to it.. and it's pretty sweet. but really, what need is there for bluray while you're working?
eh.
