A degree is not completely useless. In fact, it can come in quite handy - when you run out of toilet paper.

I shouldn't jest like that though - I don't not condone people getting a good education (How about that clever double negative!?), it's just that I know many people (and I am sure you do too) that went to college, got a degree, and then couldn't get a job in the field that they wanted to get in to.

I'm just glad the Internet came along. In the big scheme of things, I just can't help to feel like I am just in the right place - at the right time.

depends on what you want to do with your life. talk with companies you'd like to work for, college profs or whoever to decide what option is best to get you where you wanna go.

There are 3 possible reasons why you shouldn't go for Masters:
1. You are too dumb to get into a decent grad school
2. You already have a good job lined up or see yourself getting one soon
3. Your major barely interested you (you went to college just for the parties)

depending on the degree.
most are just stepping stones to another degree, or professional school. Also they are used for entry level postions to work you way in and up in the work force of the industry of your choice.

The degree is the key to many doors.
Its up to you which doors you choose to enter and persue.

But you need that key.

4. a professional designation for your field is much better and cheaper than a masters.

I have two Bacholors and a masters.
Ever since leaving my old field of work and study, ive never needed it. Hopefully never will. But you learn some shit that does carry over to this world and all industries for that matter. And the peace of mind knowing you have something to fall back on helps you sleep well at night when signup numbers are low.

I have several degrees. they mean nothing but do impress some people. When I was a financial advisor/broker I remember one client who had too much money and was looking for aplace to put it other than the banks cause interest rates were droping like crazy then. i was competing for his business with another broker. I don't put my degrees on my business cards but I did have them hanging on my back wall in my office. The client came in and told me that I had a much better presenation, what I recomened made a lot more sense and my fees were better than my competator but my competerator had a commerace degree and they were very impressed with that and wanted to know my credintals. I asked them to make a decision based on the work I did and my reputation and not some piece of paper. They thought about it and then decided to go with me. On the way out of the office they saw my degrees and asked me about them. Seems I had about 2 years MORE education than the other guy who kept bragging about how important his education training was. I smiled and said results matter, not education. They remained clients till I sold my financial practice and referred me to 4 other waelthy people who also became clients.

Sad part is my partner who was 55 years old has a grade 11 education and dealt with a lot more high end clients all the time than I did. Results matter - nothing else.

You can't get a Master's or Ph.D. without it, but you'll never get a bachelor's degree anyway, so it's kind of a moot point for you.

I have an M.A. in Philosophy and I shoot erotica for a living, so there's one thing you an do with an M.A. if you ever make it that far, which, based on what I've seen is NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.

"So there I was, 5 years out of College sitting back in my room, at my parents house smoking a joint, looking at the walls and thinking, what fuckin book did I forget to read. I got pissed so I went back to school and I walked to one of my profesors and said, 'What can I do with this degree? You taught me this shit. NOW WHAT!?!?'"

"You can teach."

"Well what the fuck will those people do?"

"They'll teach as well."

"THIS ISN'T COLLEGE!! It's Amway with a track team you ASSHOLE!!"
Semi-quoted from Richard Jeni

I have a degree in photography and in make-up (I used to do Special Make-up FX on the outside). And I now design porn sites, and edit porn movies.

... money well spent.

Truthfully, after working with both degree having and non-degree having people who are equally as successful I see it really doesn't matter. I would actually go as far as saying any extra intensive school time can hurt unless you are going into a financial or medical profession.

The reason I say this is, for most professions, after you have a general knowledge of your chosen profession the thing that matters most is experience. If you are a college sophmore that knows the business extremely well you should be working in your field by either interning or another entry level position. Of course you have to have a certain amount of moxy to scmooze your way into your desired corporation.

If you started interning as a freshman and move up to a decent level by senior year you are 5 steps ahead of someone fresh out of school with a masters in hand. Most people should have really started interning your junior year of high school. It's hard for people to resist bright kids! You have to have a good idea of what you want to do though.

If you are entrepreneurial at all you are killing time in school. Stop hiding and come play the game!
