I'm now starting Career #2 after adult. I have a low threshold for boredom and I'm sure I'll get bored with this new thing in a few years, lol. But back in the early days of working adult, 18 hour days weren't unheard of. Then it evened out where you could build those sites and let them go on autopilot with a little tweaking and work a lot less and make the same amount of $$$. Now the people I talk to in adult who are still in adult 100% full time tell me they are working a LOT harder to make the same amount of money. Maybe they're just telling me that make me feel good since I'm getting ready to go back to starting out all over again and probably looking at at least 16 hour daysComment

Everyone here should be diversifying their traffic streams right now
The economy is just beginning to get bad.....we havn't even seen half of it yet.
If you thought sales were hard last month, wait till next month.
With that said....i think everyone is seeing their conversions drop slightly.
Perhaps people are making more $ today than a year ago.....but thats only because they have more traffic IMO.

I keep growing my traffic from year to year with a few solid blogs. I weened myself from AVS, link list, free sites and TGPs to concentrate on just a few high-end blogs. I am actually making the same these days with a lot more work. In the early days I could take off for a few months and spend well over 1000 a night boozing it up. Oh well, live and learn.

In our country it is:
2001 1$USD =40CZK
2008 1$USD =14CZK (almost double of what it was in 2001)
And that doesnt count local price increases. The USD buys you(basic living necessities, housing, traffic fares, etc.) around 20% of what it bought you in 2001 here.
Despite that, I am working less and earning much less then in 2003-2006. After few years in adult I got simply bored as hell.Comment

I'm working harder but on mainstream projects.
I think the paycheck at the end of the day will be much better.
Also if the people in the industry focused more on working then going to a show every month and spend all the money to sponsor and by drinks and have painted girls walk around to impress people I think some companies would be less in a jam. Especially knowing that half the twits going to those parties don't have traffic, or aren't even webmasters.
Posting on GFY does NOT qualify you as a webmaster IMHO.

Some of these companies would be better if they spent their 'shows' money on making new content.
Some sites and programs are in the shitter because they do not do, or keep, updates more than once a week. If ever. Some just rotate their old shit from years back.

I worked 12 hour days in 1998. I work 12 hour days now. I made decent money in 1998. I make stupid crazy money now. I plan on working 12 hour work days for the rest of my life just because I love to work and make money. Just can't stand to think of a dollar I may have missed somewhere. I love to start new projects and add to my shit. I find that once I get something "down" and get real efficient with it, then I can slip in something else to work on too. I still think I can squeeze out another half hour a day soon. And when I do, I'm gonna get together with JC and work on a new project.
