BEIJING (Reuters) - A Chinese migrant worker killed one person and stabbed nine others after discovering his savings of 2,600 yuan ($380) had been swapped for counterfeit notes while he visited a prostitute, state media said on Wednesday.

"The suspect turned to a local police station for help, but was too furious to wait for an investigation," Xinhua news agency said, citing police in Yunnan Province in southwestern China.

"He bought a knife with the 3 yuan left to him, and tried to find the person who stole all his money."

He killed one passer-by and injured another nine, none critically, on Monday morning at the Shuangqiao Garden Plaza in Wenshan county, before being seized by police.

Poor guy that's probably everything he had to his name to retire on. That's a lot of money to a laborer in China. And he probably had it all on him because he couldn't trust the banks.
