This is just a scheme to get more posters on his board.

Why do you think he started a thread about Amp there?

Because he is hoping some of you will hop over and post in it.

It's really an old trick. Take what you perceive to be the most popular poster on a board and start pissing him off all over the board.

Then start a thread about it on your own board.

In most cases a popular poster has people that dislike him. So they hop over and start posting on the board that agrees with what they think. Voila a few new members added.

Then offcourse word gets around from friends of Amp. Something like an ICQ message saying "hey! just thought you should now there is a thread about you on ......."

Then offcourse there are the people that want to jump in and defend the guy. So again they hop over and post. Voila more registered members.

An additional bonus is the growing email list on that board they can sell to market about anything under the name newsletter at some point in time.

I think the only mistake Serge made was choosing Amp. From what I have seen the guy has little or no enemies. Other than that the classic trick was performed without flaws.

I wonder who Serge is gonna pick on next to gain members for his board

Popular opponent WITH lots of friends IS good!
read the first paragraph for reasons why,
therefore the choice of Amp was NOT a mistake.

Friends also provide good sorce of "smaller piggies" for use later, when the main one is exhausted.

Each friend is a future piggy back.
