are the typical Embedded Tube Sites all this glitchy?

was just looking at some script solutions and went to this site and surfing around there, the thought of how damn frustrating it must be for the surfer, probably 9 out of 10 videos I tried sat there buffering forever and/or didn't play at all....... is that typical of the reliability of the embedded video tubesite model?

check it out, go to the bottom to the 'random videos' and click on some, is it a situation where the webmaster needs to babysit the site every day? I realize that a set up like this is at the mercy of the sponsors hosting the videos, but is it worth the hassle?

and can someone explain the 'embed code' thing they have there? does this mean that they are giving a link to a link, as they aren't the real hosts? how does that work?

just curious about this 'tubesite' model and if webmasters are liking the results lately or not?

it all depends where your site "pulls" the videos from, and when you play the videos the quality/speed depends on where YOU are locad (in relation of the hosting site) + the speed of your connection + your hardware

on the sites that I have I embed either form sponsors or other tubes, the trick is to have a good mix IMO, that way if sponsor A goes under or they remove their movies you won't have to start building your site from scratch and just remove say 5% of your movies

if you want to play around with tubes get the nubilies free tube script (get it from the webmaster's area) which is 100% free, then add embed movies from other sponsors and you're good to go. It is a very decent script and I like it much better than another one I purchased.

I also have a few tube blogs - wordpress with embeded movies (only thumbs on the main page, the pages with the movies open in a new window) with a plugin which rotates the posts so the surfer is presented with new movies on the front page every day

The site www.pornfuckyou.com is a demo site for webmasters that want to have a play around with TEVS (my script) before they buy it.

Most of the time webmasters use hotlinked videos and it does take a few seconds for it to buffer. Unless they are using uploaded flv videos in which case only buffer for 2-3 seconds.

Some of the videos on that site will not work as their just tests from webmasters to see if their videos work. Once they find out they work they remove the video, hence why nothing plays.

TEVS is being used on over 1000 domains currently and growing every day. But as Antonio said there is other scripts out there.

k Zorgman, that's cool... I wasn't trying to be critical, I just was looking at buying TEVS and ended up at your demo site and then got turned off by the whole thing.... you should probably put up a better demo site or at least a disclaimer at the top warning that the site is not that functional, as it looked bad when I was sitting there with a credit card in my hand looking for more information

I don't want to post it here, but it's not TEVS, the script works 100% just way too many whistles and bells, and even after you disable most of them, in some browsers my site still "freezes" + there's no movie rotation option which is kinda major overlook, I want to add say 2000 videos to my site and then forget about it (as far as updating/adding movies goes)

tubecgi rotates videos on a time you set in the config automatically and also rotates
a "featured" video if you choose.

phpmotion looks like a very nice solution, which is free (always nice!) lol, however as always I skipped past the terms of use, only to find once I installed it that it detected from the URL I guess, that it's an adult site and locked down the admin area.

anyone know if you purchase it your allowed to use it for adult and/or a way to bypass that on the free version?

I've noticed that before on some other open source scripts

the cool little javascript reflex.js has the same restrictions, no commercial and no adult

it sucks when you find something that will do what you want so well and you can't use it

i heard tevs is the best but can it display the username of the person that uploaded the video? can that person have thier own profile page with other videos they have uploaded?
then is there a way to show the top 10 uploaders in a widget on the index?

if someone knows something like that then icq me
