I saw an oldie I've been meaning to see for years just recently. The Killing Fields. I've become pretty interested in the Indo-China region in the last couple of years after reading Pol Pot: History of a Nightmare by Philip Short and The Gate by Francois Bizot. You want something dark, mysterious and possibly sci-fi. How about "Dark City"? Ever see that? It was made by the same director of "The Crow". Both films have a film noir feel to it, as did "Donnie Darko." I really liked "Zodiac" (your boy Jake's in it) which I saw a couple of months ago. Equilibrium, starring Christian Bale. It's a few years old now (2002) but is amazing and I'm always surprised how many people have never seen it.

Black Christmas 1974
Good note on Black Christmas (1974) - the remake was truly dreadful. Shame about Bob Clark - I saw a screening of the 1974 movie at Grindhouse where he did a Q&A shortly before the accident.
