Relatively speaking the US has seen worse conditions so history indicates that the US will recover and climb to new highs.

China, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia still need the West, but until when? Koreans and Japanese are more advanced than Westerners in non-military technology, such as electronics, telecom and internet. China is the world's factory. Saudi Arabia and Russia combined produce 20 million barrels/day, 1/4 of the world's oil production.

We still have guns and farms, but with soaring food prices and a nuclear / space arms race, new challenges arise.

The end of US domination is not a myth, it was discussed in Foreign Affairs bi-monthly journal, America's most influential foreign policy magazine.

The US economy may still be 25% of the world's GDP, but it's a house of cards made of USD bills. Home equity is lowest since 1945 and Citigroup is cheaper than Apple Inc.

LOL. I am not going to jump here defending the US, but you have got to be fucking kidding if you think the EU is a true and good example of democracy. Tell me how many countries actually put the Lisbon Treaty to a referendum? And when it failed, what did every other nation do? Tell them to 'fix' the situation and 'push ahead' with the treaty. The leaders of the EU could not give a fuck about what you or any other citizen really wants, they are pursuing what they want to, without regard for what the majority might think along the way.

They are so far disconnected from the public, and from any real accountability that many EU citizens are really starting to get annoyed with them, and the rejection of the Lisbon treaty is more of a statement from the people of Ireland than perhaps any true concern or desire to changes to the policy itself. If they put it to vote elsewhere it would of failed too, for the same reasons, and that is why most nations didn't do it. The EU acts pretty un-democratically for an organization that proclaims to actually care of promote democracy. Turkey will be yet another example of that, despite what ANYONE says Turkey will be an EU member. Zanu-EU always gets its way.
