I'm really looking into getting a Macbook Pro in the next few months and don't always like to use the trackpad on a laptop when I'm at my desk. I'd like to pick up a nice mouse but was wondering what most people are using?

I like the Logitech track man.It's great maneuvering with a billiard ball once you get used to it

Another vote for the trackman. It's great for general usage. If you need to fly all over the place really fast and accurately then a typical mouse works better. If you need something to be extremely fast and accurate I find a graphics tablet works the best.

Usually there is a trade-off between how easy the device is to transition from keyboard to mouse (or equivalent) and how fast and accurate you can be. The faster and more accurate the longer it takes to transition. The easiest to transition to is a trackball (good for general usage, surfing web, etc) but it's also the hardest to accurately and quickly click on a given target.
