we talked for 5 months before being able to meet in person, and then spent a month together and it was just perfect.

As Jester said, when all you can do is talk you can actually set up a more "grown up" relationship... it's weird but it's awesome

A close (hungarian) friend of mine met a brazilian babe on Orkut (early spring 2006), after some months of chatting he traveled to Sao Paolo to meet her in person. Until that tome they communicated via "babelfish", this nice english-portugese translating stuff (but my friend learned portugese flawlessly in some months. He spent a month there, and the only cause why they didn't get married was the guy needed to have some papers about he does not have a wife in Europe.. So he came back, and in Oct 2006 they got married while my friend was in Hungary and the girl was in Sao Paolo (he sent paperwork earlier for this to be possible). The day after the "marriage" the wife arrived to Hungary, where they planned to spend some weeks than go to Hanoi (Vietnam) for a nice job opportunity. The some week project grew a year, the girl became pregnant. Their son was born on 1st Jan 1008 in Hanoi. They are very happy, and I miss them a lot...
