Is there such a thing as a 'Fake' tube script?

You know how you can get fake TGP scripts? In other words a script that produces what 'looks' to be a TGP... But it doesn't have all the full features of a proper TGP script, ie no skim, you cant trade etc etc...

Does the same thing apply to tubes?

In other words is there a 'simple' script that can be used to create a small tubesite, but that doesn't have all the full features of a full blown tube?

Im thinking of just displaying my own trailers on it... Only about 100 clips to start, but I'd want it to 'look' like a full blown script... But I dont need to have user uploads, or a 'join scheme' or anything fancy...

Ideally, as it wont have mega traffic, Id like it to be something that can be run on a 'shared server' It doesn't need to be able to run on a 'virtual account', but Ideally it wont require a dedicated box either...

It would be really just a way to display my own clips and promos in a way that looks familiar to tube users?

If so, please post suggestions. I dont mind spending on a paid script... But I am new to entire tube thing anyway, so I dont even know if what Im asking for exists!

I'm not sure about that, but if you know a tube script uses templates for the thumbnails (meaning you can edit the URL) you could merge it with a TGP script and skim the clicks on the videos.

I'm sure it's not that necessary though as you would need sites to trade with and tubes don't really do that. You could trade with TGP's but I think the productivity would be quite low, not really sure though as I haven't tried this.

No Sorry. Either I have not been clear in what I am looking for, or you misunderstood me... The TGP bit was just an example...

Not that I am aware of.

I know for the one I use, MediaMax, I just turn off the user submits and downloads. I am guessing most scripts, should, have this option. Or where you can put all submitted into a cue or whatever.

But there is no full fledged fake tgp tube script I am aware of. You could always ask fawkedup to make one for ye.

OK thanks. This Media Max you use? Is it from http://mediamax.com/ ? If so they appear to have closed shop...

The key point though, is that its going to be running on a shared server, not a dedicated box, and I remember Sortie bemoaning the fact that phatservers couldnt run his script the other day...

Tevs is a fake tube script.. However the guy who makes it keeps saying there is a update and that's been for almost a year. Decent script but a complete tool who owns it and he has no idea how to make money with it.

I looked at TEVs... But it may be a bit more than I need...

You see, I dont want to promote anyone else's stuff on it... So I dont need to import galleries... Nor do I want to have links to anyone else's stuff... I just want to have my OWN clips (That I have shot myself) and links back to MY site... I dont want to import anyone else's stuff...

Its not an exercise in using the tube format to become 'a tube' and get sales for other programs, with me acting as an affiliate...

it ONLY allows embed codes... Or there's my paid script for $40 that has a quick option to turn user uploads off and it has quite a bit of query caching in place to help it be even easier on servers.

Ignore him, hes obviously not a programmer and is one of those "make me a super script that can do everything, even make pancakes" and expect it to be 100% bug free and perfect in 3 hours time.

ThatGuy, have you not been following the million other recent tube script threads where people have been discussing the pros and cons of various free and paid tube scripts, both the ones that allow user uploading and the ones that don't? I would check out Nubiles or Vidiscript. One of these could be used as the basis of a "fake" or a full featured tube script using whatever features that they have, and they are both free. Or like some one else said, you can do something similar with Wordpress, and the JW player.
