I took a little tour through St. Boniface, the Forks, and parts of the downtown area today on July 1st 2008, and caught some great happenings and great people celebrating Canada day.

I thought I'd share.

This is a Local French artistdoing some chalk art at the foot of the Provencher walking bridge...

Here's one of the many river taxis speeding along the Red...

Then I headed down Provencher Blvd a ways, and from my moutain bike I spotted another local artist taking advantage of the nice weather. He was painting the old St. B. city hall building from a rather strategic vantage point in front of the post office....

On turning back a few blocks down Provencher, the ride back proved interesting and I caught this character heading towards the Forks to entertain the kiddies....

He had to have been roasting in that suit!

I rode back over the Provencher bridge, then swung around underneath it, and proceeded to head through the Forks.

A lot was going on there as you will soon see...

The girl on the left I was told is up here all the way from Brazil to attend university...

They were so nice and friendly I couldn't resist taking another shot of them....

The good people of Winnipeg, gathering in anticipation of some free entertainment on the big stage at the Forks....

And this is what they got to see next, local all-girl punk band....________?
I didn't catch their name, but they sounded great...

I sidled up to the front of the stage and got some better shots of them....

Last stop was the skate/trickbike park, Two more Winnipeg lovelies were willing to pose for me, with the bowl portion of the skate park and the beautiful Winnipeg skyline as the backdrop...

All in all it was a fun ride and a very fun afternoon.

By tonight that area will be packed with over 100K people, and the firewrorks is going to be incredible.

Its horribly hot today in Ottawa but its a great place to be on Canada Day! I've only done the Parliament Hill trek once and it was pretty insane. the fireworks are the best but the downside is the stupid drunks outnumber the normal people. Lots of hot girls though.
