Traffic has dropped by 40% for me since January this year. Feb was down about 10% on Jan. March was the same but April and May I'm down 40% on Jan. June isn't looking any better.Comment

So your saying all the surfers don't have a life and get out more in the summer? Please... Summer Slowdown is real, and the BSers in this forum continue to spew the same "theres no summer slowdown" bullshit year after year... everyone with half a brain and decent logs will tell you that ratios get worse and traffic stays the same or goes down during this 3 month period. You make it back as soon as the college kids are back in school though... then times are good

yeap... summer is a huge slowdown then.... when kids when the school starts there is another slowdown because there are books to buy and tuitions to pay, then there is that Halloween celebration when everyone spends money and shortly after comes thanksgiving and xmas which fucks things up for us adult webmasters......... + tubes and everything is going downhill .......

Also why would traffic stay the same and ratio's get worse? So you are just suggesting they are surfing the same but just buying less?
While I am at it, why must everyone say when college attendees are back in school? Is that every single webmasters demographic, college kids? I personally seem to get a shit load of log ins from working type locations, more so than college campuses. I also seem to maintain a fairly good mix of traffic that is not just US based either.
I really do not go about spewing BS in forums. I do not always have record months all of the time or even month after month. I never claim traffic is always on the rise for me or that ratios have not fallen or fluctuated. I will occasionally say my denials mails are not matching higher scrubbing for instance.
Still honestly for me summer does not equal any slowdown in sales for me that I send to my own sites. (most of my traffic goes to them now) I still will say mid feb through april is a major downer for me nearly every year.Comment

Good points. I will concede and say that it really DEPENDS ON TRAFFIC... now for me, I heavily promote teen programs. Summer is always a major slowdown for me, my demographic takes holidays for the 3 months every year and I've got a ton of data to prove it. I change nothing and by September, i'm back in business - not that i'm in any financial dire straits, I do well enough to maintain things, but I really do well in the fall and over the winter.
Anwyays, this is all a part time gig for me, so I need to head on out here, but good discussion

That's YOUR natural traffic cycle....That doesn't mean that it is the same for everyone....
My summer sales are the worst of the four seasons...However, come December 26, sales will SKYROCKET and every time I burp or fart, (which is relatively often), I will have made a sale......I'll be riding a big wave all the way through April, when sales start to slow down a little but not much and then to the summer, where sales can be dismal at days.
That's just the way my traffic cycle works.....So now that sales are slow, I'll just make sure that I continue to bring fresh faces and will live off of the rebills......
Now if I was a "webmaster" who was mainly sending traffic to others, I can't vouch for what they know because it's a whole different ballgame.Last edited by BVF; 06-26-2008, 07:14 AM.Comment

depending on where you get your traffic, the conditions in the USA (Midwest and parts of West Coast) might be affecting your traffic... when a house is under water, i dont think they r shopping for porn....Comment
